How many people do you think have a cavernoma?

Clue: It might be more than you think.

Research suggests that 1 person in every 625 in the UK has a brain cavernoma without symptoms.

That equates to roughly 108,000 people – enough to more than fill Wembley Stadium! 🏟️

Other research suggests cavernomas could be even more common, with estimates varying between 1 in 625 and 1 in 217 people having an asymptomatic cavernoma.

People who experience symptoms from a cavernoma are much rarer, with current research estimating around 1 in 2,700 people have a symptomatic cavernoma.

Cavernoma may be a rare condition when it causes symptoms, but it’s more common than many people realise.

💛 Sophie’s cavernoma journey

After visiting the doctor five times with severe headaches and pressure in her head, a CT scan and MRI revealed a cavernoma.

Just two weeks later, Sophie underwent successful surgery and is now recovering well.

During surgery, doctors discovered a second cavernoma, which they have decided not to operate on due to the risk of brain damage.

While in hospital, she searched for information about the surgery but struggled to find stories from other young women who had been through a similar experience, including having part of their hair shaved.

By bravely sharing her own journey, she hopes to offer reassurance to others facing similar experiences and remind them that they are not alone. 💛

🎤 LIVE performance from LSH Productions featuring their spectacular Big Boyband Reunion Show – packed with all your favourite 90s boyband classics, iconic dance routines and plenty of nostalgia!

The Hathor Duo - Meera Maharaj (flute) & Lucy Nolan (harp) will be giving TWO performances at Barkham Exmoor on Sunday 12th July. Younger children will be especially welcome to CLOUDLAND, a new production in association with the John Burningham Estate.
