There’s still time to sign up for our very special genre workshop series: Three-Peat, led by our NY Writers Coalition staff. These workshops will meet every Thursday, June 13-June 27th from 7-9 p.m. ET via Zoom.

NYWC staff aren’t just administrators who produce some of your favorite workshops online and in person. They’re skilled poets and writers who explore literature and craft on their own time and try to infuse that passion into all their offerings. Now you have the chance to write with them firsthand!

Join NYWC’s Program Director Calley Anderson and Artistic Director UGBA for a genre-spanning series of writing workshops in May and June. Each staff member will lead a two-week section on a specific genre that will examine craft, offer writing prompts, and provide tips and tools for further exploration.

•Week 4 led by UGBA will focus on poetry.
•Weeks 5 & 6, led by Calley, will focus on dramatic writing (stage and screen); participants will learn about the basics of scriptwriting and what makes a script strong from the start.

PRICE: $50/session (and there are optional sliding-scale discounts for those in need). For any questions email [email protected]

Three-Peat is a fundraising workshop; proceeds will go toward NYWC’s spring fundraiser to keep our work alive in the face of significant challenges. Click on the link to learn more & register.

There's still some spots open for our Generative Creative Writing Workshop with Takiyah that starts this Sunday from 5-7pm ET via Zoom!

Participants will write in response to prompts provided. You can write in any genre and use this time however suits you best: to journal, write a poem, stories a play—anything that inspires you.

After the writing time anyone who chooses to share what they've written will receive supportive feedback. We do not critique writing in these workshops, as it is brand new work.

ABOUT TAKIYAH: Takiyah’s style was born out of a belief in the power of words along with the stories they tell. She often gets her prompts or workshop ideas from texts she’s read and remembered during the course of her healing journey. She receives the honor of being a safe space that allows others to bring their healing journeys to the page.

Takiyah has also led a number of generative and craft-based writing workshops, including our past Black Writers Program workshop: “Black Love, Period.”

Click on the link to learn more & register! Don't miss your chance at getting some much needed writing time!
