We’re thrilled to announce we’re joining the . network, and joining their efforts to center racial diversity, equity, and to help close gaps in education, drive innovation, and deliver the most impactful solutions to move our world forward.

By 2028, the STEM Ed Innovators Equity Leaders program, the flagship offering of the Jhumki Basu Foundation, aims to develop 400 teacher leaders to bring transformative practices into their schools and districts across the United States. As Equity Leaders bring this work to their professional learning communities, we will expand STEM belonging in 1,000+ classrooms, impacting 20,000+ students per year. Our model co-creates personalized programs with each Equity Leaders to meet one or more of the following goals:
1) developing curriculum aligned with equitable learning standards,
2) fostering anti-racist, culturally responsive and sustaining pedagogy
3) facilitating collaborative professional communities of practice centering the historically marginalized and underrepresented funds of knowledge of Black, Latinx, and Native American STEM teachers.

Celebrating our Equity Leaders!

Equity Leaders from our second cohort just completed the 3 day leadership institute and are preparing to launch the Design Lab in their school, district or university setting. This cohort welcomed educators from Alabama, Illinois, Louisiana, Massachusetts, Nevada, New York, North Carolina, Ontario, Canada and Punjab Pakistan to explore ways to enact transformative change in STEM classrooms.

Equity Leader focused on unique opportunities of practice that were relevant to them:
- Creating inclusive spaces to promote emotional safety in the classroom
- Leveraging student capital to design STEM lessons that are responsive to student needs and increase exposure to science and engineering practices for all students
- Creating relevant, engaging, inclusive and anti-racist STEM curricula

What opportunities of practice would you work on? Join us for our next cohort.
