🧡 Look inside. 🏗️

This is what progress looks like from the inside.

Walls standing strong. A roof going up. Workers climbing ladders and laying the foundation for something that will serve this community for generations to come.

When we started this building we had a dream and a dirt floor. Now we have walls, windows, a soaring ceiling and a team of dedicated workers building something truly special in Arusha, Tanzania.

Here is where we stand:
🧱 Total project cost: $90,000
✅ Raised so far: $30,000
🎯 Still needed: $60,000
📅 Estimated completion: 6-8 months — if we can raise the funds

This building is more than a classroom. It will be a multiuse community space — serving our children, their families and the entire neighborhood around FCCF. A place to learn, gather, grow and dream.

These children are singing a little song called Rum Sum Sum — and they are so happy. Fully, completely, bouncing-off-the-walls happy.

That happiness doesn’t happen by accident.

It happens because every single month, a community of people around the world quietly shows up for these children. Some give a little. Some give more. But here is what we know without question —

In Arusha, Tanzania, every dollar goes extraordinarily far.

What feels small from where you sit covers teacher salaries, daily meals, school supplies, healthcare visits, and the brick by brick construction of our new building — all in a place where a little truly means everything.

There is no gift too small. There is no donor too ordinary. There is just this — a room full of children singing their hearts out because someone, somewhere, decided to show up for them.

They came to us as tiny toddlers — some as young as two and three years old — in a community where early childhood education simply didn’t exist.

They learned. They grew. They thrived.

And now? Our very first graduating class has moved on to Bright Futures Academy — a real primary school in Arusha — and we could not be more proud. 🎓🌍

10 children. 10 futures. All made possible by sponsors who believed in them.

One of those children is Purity. And that man sitting alone in an empty classroom, carefully reading through every page of her schoolwork? That’s her father. Seeing proof — maybe for the first time — of exactly what his daughter is capable of.

We have no words for that moment.

But we do have an ask.

It costs $900 a year — just $75 a month — to sponsor one FCCF graduate at Bright Futures Academy. To keep them in school. To keep the momentum going. To make sure that everything Ruth taught them, everything Salome fed them, everything we built together — doesn’t stop here.

We have 10 children who need sponsors. We are looking for 10 people who will say yes.

🍝👨‍🍳 Chef’s kiss — literally.

Thanks to the incredible generosity of Natasha Fischer, our FCCF children got their very own Pat the Spatulas — and put them to work immediately in their first ever cooking class!

These tiny chefs chopped vegetables from the garden, stirred steaming pots of pasta, wore their best chef hats and mechanic costumes, and then sat down to enjoy every single bite of the meal they helped create. 🥬🍝

Watching a three year old stir a pot with complete and total seriousness while holding a smiling spatula named Pat is something we will never forget.

Food is learning. Food is joy. Food is dignity.

At FCCF, it’s also delicious. 😄🧡

🧡 It started with one bag of rice on a dirty floor.

That was it. That was all Ruth had to feed her children when we first walked through that door two and a half years ago.

Today, every single child at FCCF gets fed. Really fed.

Every morning begins with a snack — peanut butter and banana, peanut butter and jelly — something nourishing to start the day. And then at lunch, the beautiful Salome gets to work.

She cooks over a massive pot, stirring something warm and real and made with love. Every plate that comes out has a starch, fresh green vegetables grown right here in the school garden by Ruth’s husband George, fruit, sardines, and meat twice a week.

Every. Single. Day.

For some of these children, this may be the only real meal they get. For all of them, it is the most nutritious meal they have ever known. Their doctor has noticed. Their energy has changed. Their ability to sit, focus, learn, and grow has transformed.

And when the littlest ones — the three year olds who are still babies — can’t quite feed themselves yet? Salome sits down beside them and feeds them herself until their plates are clean.

🧡 This is Ruth. And this is where it all began.

A few years ago, three women came to Tanzania to climb Kilimanjaro. On a walk through the neighborhood, someone led them down a path — and there, in a small concrete room with a dirt floor, - few worn mats, a bag of rice, a few benches, and a piece of chalk, they found her.

Ruth had been teaching the children of this community for nearly ten years. Almost entirely alone. With almost nothing.

The community laughed at her. She was days away from giving up.

Felicia stood in that doorway and cried. And then she said: we’re going to do something about this.

And she did. We all did.

Today Ruth — beloved by everyone in the community as BiBi, the Swahili word for grandmother — stands in a real classroom, in a real building, surrounded by children in orange uniforms who are learning, thriving, and being fed. She is a 35-year Montessori educator whose quiet belief in these children never wavered, even when no one believed in her.

She has seven children of her own, a devoted husband named George, and a heart big enough for an entire community.

She went from telling her family she was ready to quit — to becoming the beating heart of the Felicia Children’s Center Foundation

We didn’t build this school. We just finally gave Ruth the tools she always deserved. 🌍🧡

🧡 Meet Ryan.

He walks into the classroom and the whole room lifts. That smile — you’ve seen it. It’s the kind that makes everyone around him smile back without even thinking.

Ryan is smart. Social. Loving. And really, really good at math.

He goes home every day to a rented room, where it’s just him and his mom. Two people making it work, the way so many families in Arusha do — with resilience, with love, and now with something new: a school that sees exactly how bright their child is.

Ryan is an only child. And at FCCF he has found a community — a classroom full of friends, teachers who know his name, a place where his mind gets to run.

That smile isn’t just joy. It’s what possibility looks like on a little boy’s face. 🌍🧡
