Today is the International Day of Peace. This year marks the 25th anniversary of the UN General Assembly adopting the Declaration and Programme of Action on a Culture of Peace.

The Congregation of the Mission is honoring the International Day of Peace by attending the UN Summit of the Future Action Days and contributing to the ongoing conversations about how the SDGs can be put into action.

9/15 we say charity begins at home which is fine BUT it shouldn’t end there. We need hearts open to others’ needs, hands willing to help. Society is better when we all care for each other, especially with a charity that seeks to help people uplift themselves and change the systems that keep them poor. St. Vincent DePaul also says it’s not enough to do good (to others) we must do it well, with respect for those we help, listening to them and learning from them.
On this special day, let’s pray for charitable hearts, let’s do what we can for those in need around us. Let’s open our minds to see we’re all connected and caring for each other is the only path to real peace for everyone.
