This week, Social Justice Manager Rena Crawford represented WRJ at SRE Network's Convening in New York City. It was fantastically impactful to be in community with so many of our Jewish, like-minded, social justice partners in this meaningful work we do. We heard from experts, friends, and those by which we are inspired, including Olympian Aly Raisman and Keshet's New York Education and Training Manager Eliana Rubin. Being in network, in-person, reminds us why we do this important work in safety, respect, and equity.

We are proud to share that WRJ CEO Rabbi Liz P.G. Hirsch will soon serve on the Executive Council of the Conference of Presidents of Major American Jewish Organizations for the next term beginning this month.

The Conference of Presidents brings together major American Jewish organizations to address critical issues affecting the Jewish community in the United States, Israel, and around the world. Its Executive Council assists Conference leadership in determining consensus positions and reviewing key plans, positions, and policy matters before they are brought to the full membership.

As a member, Rabbi Hirsch will bring WRJ’s perspective and priorities to this important communal body: fighting for reproductive rights and abortion access, ending gender-based violence, and ensuring Jewish women are heard and represented at a moment when their voices are so urgently needed.

Please join us in congratulating Rabbi Hirsch on this meaningful designation and the opportunity it represents for WRJ and the women+ at the core of our work.

As we start Pride Month, WRJ recommits to our longstanding legacy of uplifting the LGBTQ+ community, both within and beyond the Reform Movement. Jewish tradition emphasizes the importance of “kavod ha’briyot,” respect for individual dignity, and “b’tzelem Elohim,” that all people are created in God’s image, which guide our support of these communities. WRJ was the first Jewish organization to call for the decriminalitzation of homosexuality in 1965 and has continued to advocate for the rights of the LGBTQ+ community since. So, let us say loud and clear: love is love, trans rights are human rights, trans women are women, and all people should be granted the trust, respect, and privacy they deserve.

Meet EVEN more of our 2025-2026 YES Fund grantees! With the support of our sisterhoods and members, WRJ is able to help organizations across the world with innovative projects and programming with the YES (Youth, Education, Special Projects) Fund. This round up includes organizations that are fostering the Jewish identity of the next generation at all stages of life, including ARZA Canada, Hebrew Union College's Jerusalem campus, Tkiya Music, and NFTY.

Your support allows us to help these organizations, and more, in creating the future of the Jewish people. Please consider a gift to WRJ’s YES Fund to grant us the ability to continue this work in the future. https://wrj.org/donate-wrj

On June 3, 1972, Sally Priesand shattered centuries of exclusion when she was ordained by Hebrew Union College–Jewish Institute of Religion, becoming the first female rabbi in American history and the first woman ever ordained by a rabbinical seminary.

Only 54 years ago, this was a breakthrough that transformed Jewish leadership forever. We 💙 you Rabbi!
