The East Brooklyn Business Improvement District (EBBID) is a not-for-profit, tax-exempt organization formed in 1983 by property owners, businesses, and other interested groups in this community. The East Brooklyn Business Improvement District (EBBID) is a 40-block area in East New York, Brooklyn that is bordered by Powell Street to the West, Atlantic Avenue to the North, Pennsylvania Avenue to the East, and Sutter Avenue to the South.

Today, EBBID celebrated National Manufacturing Day, held each year on the first Friday in October, by putting community partnership into action right here in the East Brooklyn BID.

A special thank you to BIG Reuse for leading today's tree-care effort.

Thank you as well to the Office of Council Member Sandy Nurse, NYC DYCD, HeartShare Human Services, NineDot Energy, Greengage Urbanscape, the EBBID Clean Team, LDCENY, Trey Whitfield School, the Brooklyn Borough President's Office, Community Board 16, and others who joined us today.

Together, our 40+ volunteers and community partners cared for 16 street tree pits, putting in the work to improve conditions throughout the district and leave a visible mark on the East Brooklyn BID.

Held each year on the first Friday in October, National Manufacturing Day is an opportunity to recognize the businesses and workers that keep our manufacturing communities moving. The EBBID is proud to celebrate the BOTT Foundation's first Welding Program Graduation, an important workforce milestone taking place right here in our district.

Held at the NYCEDC East Brooklyn Industrial Incubator on Powell Street, this milestone reflects the important role the incubator continues to play in preparing local residents for careers in the skilled trades and supporting workforce development in East Brooklyn.

Eighteen graduates completed 12 weeks of intensive welding and safety training and are now moving on to advanced training with Boilermakers Local 5, taking the next step toward careers in the union trades.

The graduation brought together community leaders and partners, including Council Member Chris Banks, La'Shawn Allen-Muhammad, executive director of Central Brooklyn EDC, representatives from Boilermakers Local 5, John Powell from LDCENY's Green Pathways Program, and others to celebrate the graduates' achievement and the opportunities that lie ahead.

Congratulations to Leslie Lambert, the entire BOTT Foundation team, and, most importantly, the 18 graduates. We wish each of you continued success as you begin the next chapter of your careers.

The EBBID is proud to see programs like this creating real opportunities within our district and helping strengthen East Brooklyn's workforce for years to come.
