Neighbors Together

Neighbors Together is a soup kitchen and social service center committed to ending hunger and poverty

Since 1982 Neighbors Together has been fighting hunger and poverty with three integrated programs:

• Our Community Café provides free, nutritious meals to 400 people a day to ease the immediate crisis of hunger;

• Our Empowerment Program addresses the entrenchment of problems that lead to hunger: unemployment, lack of education, homelessness, addiction, and inadequate health care;

• Our Comm

unity Action Program organizes our members through education and action to transform public policies that too often compound rather than relieve poverty. Our three programs are designed to meet immediate and basic needs while creating pathways for our members to actively challenge the underlying conditions that perpetuate poverty. All of our activities are grounded in the needs and hopes of our neighbors, honoring the dignity of each individual and striving for the overall empowerment of our community.

Volunteer Spotlight: Mid-Bedford Heights Lion’s Club

For years, we have welcomed the joyful Mid-Bedford Heights Lion’s Club as volunteers in our Community Cafe. We are always excited to have them join us to help serve meals, prepare pantry bags, and connect with our team. This week, the Lion’s Club also generously donated to our work, and we are grateful for outstanding partnerships like these that help us further our mission.

Volunteers like the Lion’s Club are the reason we’re able to continue to serve thousands of our low-income neighbors every week -ensuring our neighbors are met with dignity and care.

Today’s lunch meal is jam packed with both food, and volunteers! We are so grateful to be able to feed hundreds of our low income neighbors every day.

Housing is more than a place to live. It creates space for opportunities, dignity, and long-term sustainable change.

Our friends at have been wonderful partners in helping voucher holders and low income New Yorkers find a place to call home.

Our team had a great time attending their cocktail event in support of their work, and hearing stories of impact from individuals whose lives have been changed by housing support.

Last night’s Plates for Change Chef Showcase was absolutely beautiful! It was wonderful to be in BRIC House with so many of our supporters together in community.

We are thrilled to say that we raised over $35,000 last night in support of our mission to end hunger and poverty in central Brooklyn. The event was a beautiful celebration of our work, and it would not have been possible without the support of our incredible community here in Brooklyn!
