Are you passionate about preserving Estonian heritage, strengthening our communities, and making a meaningful difference? Consider becoming a Member of the Estonian Relief Committee (ERC).
ERC members play an important role in guiding the organization's mission, providing valuable input to the Board of Directors, and helping ensure that our work reflects the needs and aspirations of the broader Estonian-American community.

✨ All ERC members serve as volunteers, united by a shared commitment to supporting Estonian culture, education, youth programs, humanitarian initiatives, and community-building efforts.

📌 Membership is by election, and qualifications are determined by the Board of Directors. New members may be elected at any meeting of the Members or Board.

🎶 Celebrating Estonian Song and Dance Across North America
The Estonian Relief Committee (ERC) is proud to support Estonian choirs and folk dance groups that keep our culture, traditions, and community thriving across North America.
This year, ERC helped support U.S.-based Estonian singers and dancers who traveled to Toronto to participate in the grand opening celebrations of KESKUS – International Estonian Centre. The celebration brought together more than 600 singers and folk dancers, along with Estonians from across North America and around the world, to mark this historic milestone through music, dance, and community.
From youth choirs to women’s, men’s, and mixed choirs, and folk dancers performing in traditional Estonian dress, the celebration showed something especially meaningful: several generations of Estonians coming together as one community.
These performances are about much more than entertainment. Every song sung in Estonian and every traditional dance performed helps preserve our language, heritage, and connection to one another. It is through moments like these that traditions are passed from one generation to the next—and kept alive far from Estonia.

💃 Preserving Estonian Folk Dance for Over 55 Years

The Estonian Relief Committee (ERC) is proud to support Pillerkaar, the Washington, D.C.-area Estonian folk dance group that has been preserving and sharing Estonian dance traditions since 1971.
For more than five decades, Pillerkaar has brought Estonian culture to life through performances at national celebrations, community events, ESTO festivals, European Embassy Open Days, and even international performances in Australia. Today, dancers ranging from their twenties to their sixties continue to gather each week, united by a shared passion for Estonian folk traditions.
Folk dancing is more than just learning steps—it is about building community, celebrating our heritage, and passing traditions from one generation to the next.

🎉 Celebrating 100 Years of Detroit Estonian Educational Society “KODU”

The Estonian Relief Committee (ERC) is proud to support the 100th anniversary of the Detroit Estonian Educational Society “KODU,” taking place on September 26, 2026 — a remarkable milestone honoring one of the oldest Estonian organizations in North America.

For a century, KODU has brought generations together through Estonian language, music, cultural events, and community traditions — preserving identity and strengthening connections across time and place. A new KODU logo has been designed by Tõnn Tepandi.

We are also proud to share that the Detroit Estonians website has been selected by the U.S. Library of Congress for preservation as part of a collection of historically and culturally significant websites — a meaningful recognition of this community’s lasting impact.

👶 Supporting the Future of Estonia's Children💙

The Estonian Relief Committee (ERC) is proud to support the Tallinn Children’s Hospital Foundation's campaign to build a new rehabilitation center at Estonia’s largest pediatric hospital.

Each year, Tallinn Children’s Hospital cares for more than 12,000 inpatients and provides over 165,000 outpatient visits, offering specialized treatment to children from across Estonia. Rehabilitation is often a critical part of recovery following treatment for complex neurological, orthopedic, and rare diseases.

✨ ERC's contribution helps support the development of an innovative rehabilitation center that will provide children with the care, therapies, and resources they need to achieve the best possible outcomes and improve their quality of life.

For many years, the Estonian Relief Committee (ERC) has proudly supported Estonian Boy Scouts and Estonian Girl Guides across North America, helping ensure that future generations remain connected to their heritage, culture, and community.

Whether it's providing operating grants to help defray the costs of this year's jamboree Ajakaja, contributing to the rebuilding of the beloved Pipra Pood log cabin store at Järvemetsa Camp in New Jersey, or helping fund transportation for U.S. participants traveling to international jamborees in Canada, ERC is there to help.
