🌲 Registration is open for Chicago Estonian Summer Camp 2026!

We’re excited to share that the Chicago Estonian Summer Camp will take place July 19–23, 2026 — bringing together youth for a fun and meaningful week of culture, connection, and unforgettable memories. 🎉 Celebrating 100 Years of Detroit Estonian Educational Society “KODU”

The Estonian Relief Committee (ERC) is proud to support the 100th anniversary of the Detroit Estonian Educational Society “KODU,” taking place on September 26, 2026 — a remarkable milestone honoring one of the oldest Estonian organizations in North America.
For a century, KODU has brought generations together through Estonian language, music, cultural events, and community traditions — preserving identity and strengthening connections across time and place. A new KODU logo has been designed by Tõnn Tepandi.
We are also proud to share that the Detroit Estonians website has been selected by the U.S. Library of Congress for preservation as part of a collection of historically and culturally significant websites — a meaningful recognition of this community’s lasting impact.

✨ Celebrations like these inspire future generations to carry forward the traditions, language, and spirit of Estonia.

💐 Celebrating Estonian Mothers Everywhere! Today, we honor the strength, love, and enduring legacy of Estonian mothers and mother figures around the world. From lullabies sung in Estonian to cherished family traditions and recipes, they pass down more than memories — they preserve our culture, language, and identity for generations to come.
Many of these mothers have also played an active role in Estonian-American community life — volunteering, organizing, and keeping our traditions alive for future generations. Their impact reaches far beyond their families.

Their care, resilience, and quiet dedication continue to shape our community in meaningful ways every day.

⛷️ ERC Supports Estonian-American Sports & Community — ESTO Ski Days 2026

This February, over 200 Estonians gathered in Mont Tremblant to celebrate the 62nd annual ESTO Ski Days, organized by Eesti Spordiliit USAs — continuing a long-standing tradition of bringing our community together through sport, friendship, and shared heritage.
From downhill races to cross-country events, the weekend was filled with energy, camaraderie, and unforgettable moments on the slopes. Events like these continue to strengthen connections across generations and keep Estonian traditions thriving abroad.

The war in Ukraine has now continued for over four years, forcing millions of people to adapt to unimaginable challenges — from daily attacks to displacement from their homes.
During this time, the Estonian Relief Committee (ERC) has remained committed to supporting humanitarian efforts, including the vital work of the Estonian Refugee Council, which provides critical aid and support to those affected by the crisis. ERC also supports the Estonian Red Cross’ Ukrainian refugee program.

April 23 marks World Book Day — a time to celebrate the power of words to preserve culture, share history, and connect generations.
This year feels especially meaningful as Estonia celebrates the Year of the Book (Eesti Raamatu Aasta) — honoring the rich legacy of Estonian literature, language, and storytelling that has shaped our national identity for generations.
From beloved Estonian authors to community publications like Vaba Eesti Sõna, storytelling continues to play a vital role in keeping our heritage alive — both in Estonia and across the diaspora.
