Run Anyway

Run Anyway RunAnyway originally began because two friends, Lance and Craig, decided to fulfill their charity obligated miles after the 2012 NYC Marathon was cancelled

RunAnyway sprouted it's roots in the wake of the cancellation of the New York City Marathon. After the short notice cancellation, friends Lance and Craig, having raised money for charity, decided they needed to fulfil their marathon miles, but instead would do it in Central Park, using the example of the original NYC marathon back in the 1970’s. It started as a Facebook movement, “Run Anyway NYC M

arathon 2012” and immediately drew attention and support by hundreds of others. This is what we wrote in the original info for why we wanted to run anyway. In respect to those in need, canceling the NYC marathon was the right move. But for those of us who are running for causes or for others, we should finish what we started. We will do it like the old days where we run the necessary amount of times around Central Park to complete 26.2 miles. It's totally understandable for you if you would like not to participate but for some of us, we need to complete our obligation. To keep our charitable efforts going, we asked our runners to please bring any charitable donations to the start line in aid of our collective effort for Hurricane Sandy relief in Staten Island. In connection with Renaissance Church in Summit, NJ, we were able to raise more than $16,000, and fill more than 5 SUV's full of clothes, food, and supplies for people still recovering in the hardest hit areas of Staten Island. Riding on the success of 'RunAnyway NYC Marathon 2012', we formed the RunAnyway Foundation and continue our efforts by running for meaningful charities.
