2025 was A LOT. 😮‍💨😂 We made music. Made films. Released projects from inside. Traveled. Screened our work. Built partnerships. Created opportunities for prison-impacted artists. Paid artists. Built FREER WORLD. And kept pushing this mission forward every damn day. 🎶🎬🎨💪🏾

Now it’s all in one place.

Our 2025 Annual Report breaks down the work, the impact AND the money. Every dollar is accounted for. 💰📊 We take seriously the responsibility that comes with people investing in this work and trusting us to do what we say we’re going to do.

BIG LOVE to the Center for Art & Advocacy for having us close out Keeping Community with a screening of B. Alexis’ 9th & Gasoline! 🎬❤️‍🔥✨

The audience was incredibly thoughtful and really sat with this film. Everybody stuck around for B. Alexis to call in 📞🥹 and the warmth y’all gave her through that phone was BEAUTIFUL. The applause, the love, the embrace…she FELT it from miles away. ❤️‍🩹🫂

Thank you to everyone who came out and spent the evening with us. And thank you to the Center for holding us down, hosting our art and continuing to introduce FREER and our artists to more people in the community. 🙏🏾🎶🎥

Special love to John, Francesco, Ilah, Judy, Sienna & Carly for taking such good care of us!! 🫶🏾💐

Keeping Community has officially come to an end and we’re just grateful we got to be a part of it. What a magical experience. ✨🥹❤️ Proud of this film. Proud of B. Proud of the work. And grateful for every space that allows it to be SEEN & FELT. 🎬🔥

🪶🎨🖌️MESSAGE FROM BROKENCOYOTE 🗣️ 🔒🖼️

“For most of my life I blamed things on situations & others, whether right or wrong. I used things, true or not, to mask my feelings and my victimizations. I turned that into victimizing others in every way you can think of.

It took a long time to actually see the man in the mirror—who he really was. 🪞

In my entry I have a young man complaining and finding fault with things. He’s blaming this, that, & the other. It ends with him trying to find more to blame, until he sees who’s to really blame. 🎨✍🏽💭

In the final panel the girl asks the viewer, “Who would you like to blame?”

She is actually holding a real mirror which I glued onto the drawing. 🪞👀🔥

It is partially autobiographical.

But when I faced up to the truth, and decided to do something about it, I have known a peace I never knew existed.” ❤️‍🩹🙏🏽

🎬❤️ “It was deep.” — Mrs. Marilyn

After our hometown screening of B. Alexis’ 9th & Gasoline in Conway, SC, we caught up with B’s grandmother, Mrs. Marilyn, to hear how she felt after seeing her granddaughter’s story on the big screen. ⛽🔥

And her response meant A LOT. 🥹❤️

Mrs. Marilyn admitted that when this project first started, she had her reservations about the film being made. This story hits close to home. She spoke about how difficult it was for her to process everything that happened because she never imagined anyone in her family could actually hurt someone else.

But after seeing the finished film, something shifted.

She said she can now see the POSITIVES in B. telling her story. 🙏🏾🎥

9th & Gasoline was never about pretending the difficult parts didn’t happen. It’s about looking directly at the choices, circumstances, trauma, consequences, family and humanity surrounding them. And hopefully, somebody younger sees this story and recognizes a road they don’t have to go down.

Sometimes telling the truth is uncomfortable. Sometimes even the people closest to the story need time to understand why it needs to be told.

Thank you Mrs. Marilyn for trusting us with your family’s story. ❤️🙏🏾

Y’all… this was COMMUNITY for real. 🥹🫶🏾 A room full of formerly incarcerated women eating BBQ chicken 🍗 rice & beans 😭🔥 getting MASSAGES 💆🏾‍♀️😂 while watching the story of the first woman to release a full-length album from a U.S. prison. 🎤🔒🎬

And they were LOCKED IN!! 👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾 The questions were AMAZING. The feedback was uplifting. The love in that room was REAL. 💜💜💜

S**T WAS A CORE MEMORY. 🫶🏾🥹❤️‍🔥

Our stories being witnessed by OUR communities. Everybody eating, laughing, learning, healing and pouring into each other. 🫂🎶🎥✨

🔥🗽 RAP AGAINST RIKERS!!! 🗽🔥

BIG love to Rap Against Rikers for having us out at Central Park this past weekend. ❤️‍🔥✊🏾 And THANK YOU to everybody who pulled up, stood with us, rocked with us and continues to give a damn about what happens to incarcerated people in NYC.

Because one thing we CANNOT do is let up on Rikers.

Not-so-fun fact: NYC committed to closing Rikers back in 2019. Yet here we are in 2026 and the fight is STILL going. The timeline keeps moving. People are still being held there. Families are still being impacted.

So we keep making noise. 📢📢📢

And speaking of noise… KILLED THAT S**T. 😭🔥🎤🎸

🔈OSSINING, NY - Next Thursday 9/10 - Our founder and Co-Director Fury Young will be speaking on a panel as part of the UNSUNG series. 🎤

UNSUNG is a free, music-infused storytelling series exploring the prison system through four themed evenings — Transcendence, Help, Care, and Vengeance.

Fury will be part of the first evening — with Transcendence as its theme (he got a good one!) 🧘💯Plus the very talented Kenyatta Emmanuel will be bookending the panel portion with live musical performances. 🎸We’re honored to be part of this!

🎨🌱 A little update from Studio C209…

Michael Tenneson has been back at the paintbrush, creating new pieces from inside his Colorado prison cell. 🖌️🌻🧱

And just like his music, the art is deceptively simple at first glance. Then you look closer…👀

“Grow Where You Are Planted.” 🌺
“Greener Pastures.” 🌱

Purpose. Faith. Ego. Insecurity. Selfishness. Gratitude. The temptation to believe something better is always waiting somewhere else. 🙏🏽🌀

These are the same ideas Tenneson wrestles with throughout his music. His paintings and songs feel like they’re in conversation with each other via different mediums coming out of the same mind, the same cell. 🎨🎸🎹
