“HELL HAS AN EXIT” COMES TO FORDHAM UNIVERSITY 🔥🔥🔥

Me & mommy taking our show on the road. Come see our musical monologue at Fordham University on April 30th!

“Hell Has an Exit: Finding Freedom Behind Bars.”

We used to be a mother-daughter drug-dealing duo. We both went to prison. Now she preaches in Philly and I’m a songwriter and producer building with justice-impacted artists via 🎙️.

WHYY Presents: Dying on the Inside — Podcast Launch & Panel Discussion 🧠🧐

What happens when people grow old in a system that was never built to care for them?

Join WHYY for the launch of Dying on the Inside: Women Lifers at Muncy Prison— a new investigative podcast examining the national crisis of aging and dying behind bars through the eyes of women serving life sentences in Pennsylvania 💔❤️‍🩹

This conversation comes at a pivotal moment. A recent Pennsylvania Supreme Court ruling striking down mandatory life without parole sentences for second-degree murder is expected to impact hundreds of people and raises urgent questions about resentencing, second chances, and what justice looks like now.

Not so fun prison music fact: 🎵 Did you know they turned the gas chamber into Ike White's studio where he recorded his timeless 1976 album, Changing Times in Tehachapi State Prison?? 🤔🤯

Studio C209: Born in a Prison Cell by

Studio C209 is exactly what it sounds like. Every song on this album was written, composed, and recorded inside a prison cell.

Mike Tenneson plays three different instruments. He's an incredible songwriter, composer, and a great visual artist as well. 🎨

A little FREER lore: After we released Territorial’s album Tlaxihuqui in 2021, we donated some musical gear to the prisons in Colorado from our Instruments Into Prisons program, and they moved Territorial’s bandleader Tenneson to a different prison to run a music program. 🎸

We're talking about impact. We're talking about quality of life results.
So pat yourselves on the back. CONGRATULATIONS …THANK YOU 🥳💪🏾

With that gear that was brought into the prison, Tenneson recorded some songs completely on his own.

This is our next release, but we NEED to raise more funds so we can drop his second video. The first one’s in the can and it’s DOPE. We want y'all part of the moment so you take in his music with wonderful visuals. So we're asking for you all to pitch in towards the “P.I.C.” (Prison Industrial Complex) video so we can make it happen. 🤑🤑🤑

We love this community so much. We love how y'all appreciate the stories and really want to help impact these incarcerated artists, and we see real growth in our FREER family. A real need being filled with what we're doing here - all of us as a team. 💪🏾

Stand with us today and donate towards Tenneson's upcoming project.

Thank you.
