What a night. ✨

Our Shifting the Paradigm Soirée brought together community members, artists, families, partners, and supporters who believe in building a city where Young Citizen Artists are seen, heard, and celebrated. Through performances, storytelling, conversation, and collective joy, we were reminded of what’s possible when community leads the way.

Thank you to everyone who showed up, supported, donated, and shared this special evening with us. Your support helps us continue creating transformative arts and leadership opportunities for youth across NYC. 💛

Big conversations. Bold possibilities. New roots taking shape. 🌱

Dorill’s Founder & CEO , and Chief Program Officer , recently had an inspiring conversation with Linda Winikoff of Winston-Salem about what could be possible through partnership, community, and a shared belief in the transformative role arts, creativity, and youth development play in shaping stronger futures.

Together, we explored the potential of Freedom Schools in Winston-Salem and how The Dorill Method - our approach integrating artistic rigor, civic engagement, social-emotional learning, and intentional youth development - could help support At-Promise Youth, Families, and Communities across North Carolina.

Linda also got to witness our NextGen Knights’ special program in action Tiger Clubhouse in the Bronx.

As Dorill continues building The City We Deserve, we know lasting change happens through relationships, imagination, and people willing to dream beyond what exists today.

A heartfelt thank you to friend of Tareake and Dorill supporter, Mary Lynn Wigodsky , for making this connection to Linda. Moments like these remind us how community creates possibility.

North Carolina - we’re looking forward to learning, listening, and exploring what’s possible together during our Winston-Salem visit in July 2026.

This week, Nora and Tareake sat down with Angelique for a powerful conversation on what becomes possible when art, care, and community move together.

We explored the role of arts in the lives of young people - not as an extra, but as essential infrastructure for healing, belonging, creativity, confidence, and possibility. We reflected on the importance of leaders of color building spaces where young people feel seen, heard, valued, and challenged to imagine bigger futures for themselves and their communities.

We also explored the intersection of arts and social work - what happens when creative expression and human care stand side by side to support the hearts, minds, and futures of our young people and families.

As Dorill continues fighting creative inequality across New York City, conversations like these remind us that building The City We Deserve requires partnership, imagination, and people willing to stand in the gap together.

Grateful for thought-partners like Angelique and the opportunity to dream bigger about what is possible for At-Promise Youth, Families, and Communities across New York City.

Bronx, we see you. And we’re building toward what’s possible - together. 🎨✨

This week, Nora and Tareake had the opportunity to meet with Jesús López-Jensen (Bronx Council on the Arts) to explore possibilities around expanding Dorill Arts Programs into the Bronx and deepening how we stand alongside Bronx artists, young people, and communities.

As we continue building The City We Deserve, we know young people deserve to learn from Artistic Coaches who reflect their lived experiences, cultural identities, and creative dreams. Representation matters. Access matters. Community matters.

We believe arts spaces should be places where At-Promise Youth feel Seen. Heard. Valued. Where creativity becomes a pathway toward belonging, self-discovery, artistic excellence, and imagining futures bigger than what systems have historically made possible.

The Bronx has long shaped culture, artistry, and movements that have transformed our city and our world. As we look ahead, we are excited by what could emerge through partnership, collaboration, and shared commitment to investing in the brilliance already living within Bronx communities.
