Effective September 26, 2025, you can report suspected counterfeit stamp and postage fraud using the Counterfeit Postage Reporting System (CPRS) and select the Counterfeit Postage option. Counterfeit stamps, often from China, mimic genuine issues in design and paper, but they usually fail in subtle details like perforation gauge, ink quality, watermark, and gum adhesion, all of which can be checked with magnification, UV light, and comparison to official references.

A 1994 issue from the de facto republic of Abkhazia commemorating the 25th anniversary of the Apollo 11 Moon Landing. It was issued on December 29, 1994, designed by K. Tkachenko, printed without a watermark, perforated 12, and produced in miniature sheets of four stamps. It is listed by StampWorld as issue no. 44 (type AD) with a face value of 400 rubles.

Because of the limited collecting audience for Abkhazia, these stamps are scarcer than many mainstream issues but do not necessarily command high prices.

The postage stamps of Transnistria are not recognised outside of the country and are valid only for domestic service within Transnistria. International mail and mail to the rest of Moldova requires Moldovan postage stamps.

The Kingdom of Talossa is one of the oldest and most developed micronations, founded in 1979 by Robert Ben Madison as a personal project that began in his Milwaukee bedroom and gradually expanded into a richly detailed state. Over time it evolved into a constitutional monarchy with a king, parliament, legal system, and its own constructed language called Talossan. Although it presents itself with many features of a real country, including culture, currency, and citizenship spread across different countries, Talossa is not recognized by any government and is best understood as a long running collaborative exercise in world building and governance.

One of the more intriguing aspects of Talossa is its postage, issued by the Royal Bank & Post of Talossa. These stamps are not valid for real world mail delivery but are created as collectible items, ceremonial artifacts, and a way to support the micronation. They are cinderella stamps; they resemble postage but have no official postal standing. Their designs often feature Talossan symbols, royal imagery, and cultural themes, and they are typically produced in small quantities, which gives them niche appeal among collectors.

Inuit religious traditions, shared by Inuit peoples of Alaska, Canada, and Greenland, inspired several Greenland stamp issues between 1957 and 1969.

Greenland’s first commemorative stamp, issued in 1957, depicts a scene from the legend of the Mother of the Sea. The 60 øre blue stamp shows Sedna, the sea goddess associated with marine life, seated along the shore with sea animals.

The stamp was designed by Jens Rosing, a prolific Greenlandic artist known for his effective treatment of cultural subjects.
