🔥 BUILDING BETTER KITCHENS IS UNDERWAY IN NEW YORK CITY!

Day 1 of Catalyst Kitchens’ Building Better Kitchens Workshop is in motion, and the room is already filled with thoughtful conversation, reflection, connection, and the kind of learning that happens when people are willing to share what they know and listen to one another. Hosted by Project Renewal / City Beet Kitchens, today’s workshop is being led by Catalyst Kitchens Director of Education and Training Dina Altieri, Executive Director Justin Smith, and our collaborative partner and co-facilitator Nadja Mummery, Founder of Learn to Heal Consulting. Together, participants are digging into self-awareness, emotional intelligence, trauma-informed leadership, hidden rules within kitchen culture, and what it really takes to create workplaces where people can learn, grow, and thrive. Just as important as the sessions are the conversations happening around the tables—Daniela Hurtado and Martha Palacios of Kitchen of Purpose connecting, Barbara Hughes of Project Renewal/City Beet Kitchens talking with Tanishia Sanders of Food Bank of Delaware and Lonnie Smith of Philabundance, Latasha Stephens of The Door connecting with Jacqueline Tris of Lenox Hill Neighborhood House, and peers from across the network learning from one another.

✨ We believe stronger kitchens begin with stronger relationships, thoughtful leadership, and spaces where people feel supported enough to grow.

💡 When we invest in the people who teach, train, employ, and support others, the impact travels far beyond the classroom or kitchen.

🙌 What is one thing you believe every strong workplace culture should make people feel? Drop your answer below—and stay with us as Day 1 continues and we share more from Building Better Kitchens.

Support this work by attending workshops and events, sharing the impact of Catalyst Kitchens members, and donating to Catalyst Kitchens and the nonprofit organizations making this work possible.

🌱🎨 We celebrated the close of a special Caribbean Art Botanica workshop series with a beautiful reception in our Art Room! During this 10-week class, participants explored the rich agricultural heritage of the Caribbean islands by transforming tropical fruits, heirloom seeds and household objects into vibrant mixed-media art pieces. 🖌☀🌴Thank you to instructor Kim Cabán and Art Bridge for sharing your practice with our older adult members! 🌟
