Hon. Marilyn Gerace, Town Justice of Ellicott, is the 2025 Eugene W. Salisbury Magistrate of the Year Award. Judge Gerace was honored for her service for the Town and Village Courts of Chautauqua County for over three decades. Her leadership within the Chautauqua County Magistrates Association, her tireless work administering the Centralized Arraignment Part (CAP) court, and her role as Dean and Criminal Justice Professor at SUNY Jamestown Community College reflect a career devoted to justice, education, and public service.

Throughout her tenure, Judge Gerace has exemplified the highest standards of judicial conduct and public service. Her colleagues across Chautauqua County and beyond attest to her integrity, work ethic, and enduring contributions.

Judge Gerace has also demonstrated courage and advocacy in defense of judicial independence. When her position was threatened by her town board, she acted decisively and at her own expense to preserve the two-judge structure of the Ellicott Town Court.

The recognition was presented to Judge Gerace at the NYSMA annual conference by the Hon. Peter Barlet, recipient of the Salisbury Award in 2024.

Judge Garace’s family was on hand to congratulate her on this well-deserved honor.
