Columbia University Dance Marathon

Columbia University Dance Marathon CUDM is a student-run fundraising organization benefitting Cohen's Children's Hospital. FOR THE KIDS! Why do we dance? It's 'For the Kids'!

Each year, we culminate towards a 4-hour philanthropic extravaganza of music, moves, and deliciousness attended by members of the Columbia community. CUDM is a 12 hour dance party featuring motivated student dancers, talented student groups, and heart-thumping music! Mission:

Miracle Network Dance Marathon is a movement benefiting Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals, a non-profit organization t

hat raises funds and awareness for more than 170 pediatric hospitals across North America. CUDM raises funds to benefit the Cohen Children's Medical Center of New York. Cohen is the largest provider of pediatric healthcare in New York State and has been ranked by U.S. News & World Report as one of the best children's hospitals in the country. Children's Miracle Network is the only children’s charity committed to having 100% of the funds raised stay local to support local kids. Since inception, Miracle Network Dance Marathon has raised more than $200 million for kids across North America- ensuring that no child or family fights pediatric illness or injury alone. CUDM is proud to be part of the movement for change! Overview:
Columbia University Dance Marathon (CUDM) is an 12-hour "dance party" fundraising event that unites students from across Columbia University to dance FOR THE KIDS! Each year, students pledge to stay on their feet for the entire Dance Marathon and prepare for the event by working independently or in teams to meet their fundraising goals. This year, each dancer will raise $150 towards our goal of $10,000! Cultural clubs, student performers, and speakers join our dancers for a night of service and celebration. In addition to the involvement of on-campus clubs, a few hundred student "moralers" stop by throughout the night to support their friends and contribute to the cause with a $10 donation at the door. We look forward to seeing you there!

For this week's Miracle Monday, meet Luke! Luke’s story is a strong example of how illness can come at any point, no matter how unexpected. At any moment, a family could be perfectly healthy one day and the next day depend on the fate of doctors and research and be flooded with hospital bills. Luckily, Cohen Children’s Medical Center is a hospital that treats the whole family, not just the child. Stories like Luke’s happen all the time, with more than 17,000 patients discharged from CCMC every year.

But CCMC can’t make the experience easy alone. In order to make relieve financial burdens for families and make research strong and effective, they need donations from people like you. Please consider registering for or donating to Columbia University Dance Marathon to make stories like Luke’s happen even more often. !

Today for Miracle Monday, meet Molly! Molly’s story is such a great example on how hospitals like Cohen Children’s Medical Center can change the course of a life for good and for the better. Her fight with cancer was fought by herself, her family, her doctors, Cohen Children’s Medical Center’s researchers, and people like you!

How can you help, you may ask? In order to make miracles like Molly’s happen, you can donate to or register for Columbia University Dance Marathon! Miracles don’t happen alone; they happen when everyone works together to make them happen! So, please, join the movement so more miracles like Molly’s can happen. !

CUDM supports Children's Miracle Network Hospitals to ensure that children with terminal illnesses receive the care and treatment that they need, regardless of their financial situation. In particular, the branch we work with, Cohen Children's Medical Center, specializes in pediatric cancer research.
Every year, we organize a 6 hour-long dance marathon at which participants do their best to stay on their feet for the entirety of the event, with raffle prizes, games, and performances by on-campus dance groups throughout the evening. Last year we raised over $7,700, and are looking to reach our goal of $10,000 in 2019.
