Stephen Ruffin is STEPHEN.

Stephen is an Atlantan storyteller with a B.F.A. in Acting from the University of Florida. Honored to do this with Saudade, and with my bruhs. Acting credits span TV (Chicago Fire, Snowfall, BMF, Survivor’s Remorse, Terror Lake Drive, Love Is, The Resident, Sleepy Hollow), Film (Sundance 2020 premiere Beast Beast, SXSW 2026 premiere Downbeat, Safety, Daphne & Velma, Kemba) and Theatre (Theatrical Outfit, Alliance, Horizon, Atlanta Shakes, Synchronicity, Actor’s Express, Hippodrome) and more.

Brooke Livingston is BROOKE.

Brooke is an actor and singer/songwriter who earned her BFA in Acting from the University of Florida. She has been acting since the age of four, beginning in commercials and film before discovering a deep love for live theater. In addition to acting, Brooke writes and releases original music available on all streaming platforms, with her most recent single titled Paper Doll.

Matt Mercurio is MATT.

Matt is proud son of immigrants and a classically trained actor & artistic producer. He has appeared in over 40 major episodic television shows and has worked on screen alongside the likes of Will Ferrell, Tom Cruise, Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson, and Paul Rudd as well as Oscar Award winners like Reese Witherspoon, Al Pacino, Jamie Foxx, Helen Mirren & Rami Malek. Recent appearances include recurring in “The Pitt”, “Chicago Fire’, “Chicago PD” and “Criminal Minds.” Last seen on stage in Theatrical Outfit’s “The Glass Menagerie” and in ‘”Mr. Cool.” Matt teaches Advanced Acting for working professionals and is represented by: Alexander White Agency and Industry Entertainment. PORTUGUESE TABLE SERIES ATL 🎙️

Meet our Volume I Playwright:

Mickaël de Oliveira was born in France, in 1984. He currently lives in Porto. In 2013, he got his PhD in Portuguese Contemporary Dramaturgy from the University of Lisbon and he is a post-doctoral fellow in the same institution.

In 2009, Mickael co-founded Colectivo84, his writing and directing home for the past decade. In 2007, he was awarded the Maria Matos Playwriting Prize (Maria Matos Municipal Theatre, Lisbon) for O que É Teu Entregou aos Mortais and in 2009 his text Clytemnestra got a Honorable Mention at the António José da Silva Luso-Brazilian Prize (D. Maria II National Theatre, Lisbon / FUNARTE, Brasil).

His latest writing and/or directing credits include Oslo - F**k the All and everything will be wonderful (2016, co-created with Nuno M Cardoso/ Gil Vicente Academic Theatre, São Luiz Municipal Theatre), The Constitution (2016, D. Maria II National Theatre), the diptych Socrates Must Die (2017/18, Centro Cultural Vila Flor, São Luiz Municipal Theatre, Viriato Theatre, Gil Vicente Academic Theatre), My Favorite Su***de (2019, Anthony Meindl Actor’s Workshop, Los Angeles), and Hantologia (2019, co-created with Nuno M Cardoso/ Gil Vicente Academic Theatre).

In 2015, he saw the first volume of his Complete Works published by Húmus.
​
He is the artistic director of the biennial Festival END (Encounter of New Dramaturgies), an event that seeks to promote contemporary Portuguese playwriting and whose first edition took place in 2010 (São Luiz Municipal Theatre, Lisbon). The festival has been held at the Gil Vicente Academic Theatre since 2015.

Mickael has held teaching positions at the University of Coimbra, Lisbon Theatre and Film School, and the Leiria Polytechnic Institute. He served as assistant artistic director of the Gil Vicente Academic Theatre between 2011 and 2015.

For Volume I of our ATL Portuguese Table Reading Series, we return to The Constitution by longtime collaborator and Colectivo 84 Artistic Director, Mickaël de Oliveira - a play we’ve loved sharing with our audiences, and one whose urgency continues to unfold.

Four actors, heroes of a new society, are invited by the government to write a new Constitution. Sequestered from society. Six days. No experience in the matter. A Perfect Constitution for an imperfect nation.
