The 2026 NYCxDESIGN Awards presented by INTERIOR DESIGN (Interior Design) celebrated the extraordinary creativity, innovation, and talent that continue to define New York City as a global design capital.

Now in its 11th year, the Awards brought the

New York Tri-State design community together for an evening honoring outstanding projects and products across architecture, interiors, and product design.

Hosted by Cindy Allen (Cindy Allen), Editor-in-Chief of INTERIOR DESIGN, this high-energy celebration recognized the designers, architects, studios, manufacturers, and emerging voices whose work is shaping how we live today and reflects the collective energy that defines design in New York.

Congratulations to all of this year’s 202 honorees and 90 winners—and our sincere thanks to Cindy Allen and INTERIOR DESIGN for their long-standing partnership in celebrating design excellence during the NYCxDESIGN Festival.

This year’s NYCxDESIGN Festival offered a design experience with the greatest impact—right in the public realm.

From Brownsville to Harlem to Lower Manhattan, our guided tours explored how thoughtful design is shaping communities, public spaces, and the future of New York City.

Participants joined architect Mark Ginsberg for an in-depth look at affordable housing and placemaking along Livonia Avenue in Brownsville, Brooklyn; discovered the revolving Harlem Sculpture Gardens and the role public art plays in creating vibrant neighborhoods; and toured the newly reimagined Wagner Park, where climate resilience and landscape architecture come together in an innovative waterfront design.

We thank our partners, guides, and everyone who joined us on these inspiring journeys across the city, reminding us that some of the most meaningful design experiences unfold far beyond the walls of a gallery, studio or showroom.

Harlem Sculpture Gardens

Attendees explored Harlem Sculpture Gardens, New York City’s newest public art district, where rotating installations, historic landscapes, and community partnerships illustrate how public art enriches neighborhoods, strengthens local identity, and creates more dynamic places to live, work, and gather.

Wagner Park

This walking tour showcased the newly rebuilt Wagner Park, where landscape architecture and climate resilience come together in a remarkable waterfront public space.

Participants learned how innovative design can seamlessly integrate flood protection, sustainability, and recreation while enhancing the everyday experience of the city through a natural, robust and beautiful park-scape.

Dwelling & Placemaking in Brownsville

Design has the power to fortify communities.

The future of design isn’t on the horizon, it’s already here.

In partnership with Cornell Tech and Adobe, NYCxDESIGN launched its inaugural Summit Series with Future Now: Art of the Possible—a full-day exploration of artificial intelligence and its profound influence on the future of design, at the 2026 NYCxDESIGN Festival.

Curated by Will Hall (Will Hall), Chief Transformation Officer at PreSeason, the program brought together an extraordinary group of pioneers in the field.

Through keynote presentations, panel discussions, and intimate fireside conversations, speakers from Cornell Tech (Cornell Tech), Adobe (Adobe), IBM (IBM), Google DeepMind (Google DeepMind), SHoP Architects (SHoP), Mastercard (Mastercard), MIT Media Lab (MIT Media Lab), School of Visual Arts (SVA - Statens veterinärmedicinska anstalt), and other leading organizations shared groundbreaking research, emerging ideas, and real-world applications that are already redefining creative practice.

A Conversation with Santiago Calatrava & Gabriel Calatrava

World-renowned architect Santiago Calatrava (Santiago Calatrava LLC), with collaborator Gabriel Calatrava, headlined a memorable NYCxDESIGN Festival evening at the Saint Nicholas Greek Orthodox Church & National Shrine (Saint Nicholas WTC), where they shared a keynote conversation on the vision and legacy behind the landmark project. Together, they reflected on the creative process and explored the role of architecture in shaping civic space.

Guests who participated in the pre-event architectural walking tour of the Oculus, led by Gabriel Calatrava, gained exclusive insight into the design and engineering of the iconic transportation hub and its relationship to the Saint Nicholas Church.

Architecture is at its best when it serves people.

We were honored to welcome award-winning architect Michel Rojkind (Michel Rojkind) to the NYCxDESIGN Festival for an inspiring conversation hosted by the Mexican Chamber of Commerce. Through a compelling overview of his work, Rojkind shared a powerful philosophy: great architecture is defined by how it enriches communities, fosters human connection, and inspires positive social change. And in the hands of Rojkind Arquitectos (Rojkind Arquitectos), those ideals are realized through architecture that is both socially impactful and breathtakingly beautiful.

The audience was captivated from beginning to end as Michel shared projects that challenge conventional thinking and illustrate how thoughtful design can become a catalyst for urban transformation and community engagement.

We were delighted to welcome Mexico’s creativity, vision, and design leadership to this year’s Festival. Thank you, U.S.-Mexico Chamber of Commerce and Michel Rojkind, for reminding us that architecture is more than construction — it can be an instigator of social interactions and cultural exchange.

World Cup Ode to NYC

In early June, New York City Public Schools held its 25th Anniversary of their Citywide Annual Graphics Design Competition.

As part of the Annual Graphics Design Competition, the New York City Economic Development Corporation (NYCEDC) in partnership with New York City, the NYC World Cup Czar and NYCDESIGN, sponsored World Cup Ode to NYC.

For World Cup Ode to NYC, a takeover of NYCDESIGN’s Ode to NYC poster program, more than 200 citywide high school students created original artwork inspired by the excitement, energy, and anticipation of the global spirit of soccer, the World Cup in North America and especially in the New York Metro area.

Representing the categories ot photography, illustration, and graphic design, we are proud to present the three winning designs for World Cup Ode to NYC.

To round out the Italian showroom tour series, the 2026 NYCxDESIGN Festival partnered with the Italian Trade Agency to present a curated multi-district experience across Manhattan.

Moving beyond a single neighborhood, this tour connected guests with Italian design destinations throughout the city, spotlighting leading voices in furniture, lighting, materials, and lifestyle design alongside refreshments, conversation, and exclusive showroom access.

For six eventful days, Lexus transformed the heart of Times Square into a vibrant celebration of creativity, inviting New Yorkers and visitors from around the world to experience the 2026 NYCxDESIGN Festival’s Design Pavilion — free and open to all.

Guests stepped inside the creative process through live presentations, engaging conversations, and interactive experiences with CALTY Design’s William Chergosky (William Chergosky), New York artist Alex Alpert (Alex Alpert), and designer Denise Fócil (Denise Focil)of AS by DF.

From automotive design and fashion to art and innovation, the Design Pavilion by Lexus demonstrated the power of design to inspire curiosity and connect people — inviting everyone to discover how design enriches the way we live, travel, and experience the world.
