The IFPSD celebrates United Nations Day 2022. Today marks the 77th anniversary of the founding of the United Nations. Seventy-seven years ago today countries from all over the world came together after years of war to create a mechanism for peaceful communication.

This year's theme is Nourishing Peace, with the focus being on the global issue of food security. A large part of IFPSD’s mission is to reinforce the United Nations' ideas of peace and security. Yet it is almost impossible for people to feel secure when they do not know when their next meal will come. With the ongoing effects of the Covid-19 pandemic on the supply chain, people across the world have had trouble accessing nutritious food. Food represents a vital aspect of people’s feeling of security. That is why the IFPSD is proud to promote this message of Nourishing Peace on this United Nations Day.

IFPSD is proud to celebrate the International Day for the Eradication of Poverty. The struggles of extreme poverty are felt throughout the world. Many people face hunger, housing insecurity, and many more daily struggles due to the poverty that plagues them. The International Day for the Eradication of Poverty is about all states devoting the day to creating concrete solutions to the global problem of poverty. The elimination of extreme poverty is key to creating a more peaceful and equitable world, key values for the IFPSD. We must move past the idea that poverty and inequality are inevitable and work towards a more equal future for all.
