Statement on the tragic attack at the Islamic Center in San Diego

We stand in deep, heartbroken solidarity with our Muslim brothers and sisters following yesterday’s horrific attack at the Islamic Center of San Diego. We mourn the innocent lives stolen by this senseless act of violent hate and honor the heroism of the security guard who courageously protected worshippers and children.

An attack on any house of worship is an assault on the sacred dignity of our collective humanity. Across lines of faith, tradition, and belief, we must unite as one human family to reject all forms of hate-fueled violence.

Hate seeks to divide and terrify us, but it will never have the final word. Our community's strength lies in our shared love, compassion, and relentless pursuit of peace. Together, our bonds will prove far more powerful than any act of malice. We pray for healing and strength during this difficult time for the community at the Islamic Center, people of San Diego and all communities in America.

We came together for session 6 of our Scriptural Reasoning program, this time at a mosque, Masjid Ar-Rahman which include a tour of the sanctuary and then shared study of 'humility' looking at text from the Hebrew Bible, New Testament and the Quran. A huge thanks to all, especially our friends Trinity Wall Street, Central Synagogue and Masjid Ar-Rahman for hosting us and the very nice food they offered.

Expressions of Interest are now open for our cross-cultural and interfaith journey through Spain from October 12–19, 2026. This immersive study trip travels through Madrid, Toledo, Cordoba, Seville, and Granada, visiting local Christian, Jewish, and Muslim institutions to explore the triumphs and challenges of pluralism throughout the history of Spain . By joining this diverse group of travelers from various faith backgrounds, participants will gain:
