(District Council 37, AFSCME) has issued warnings regarding the Freedom Foundation, describing it as an anti-union organization aimed at reducing union membership and power. The union alerts members that this group uses deceptive tactics to persuade public employees to stop paying dues.

Key Aspects of the DC 37 Action Alert:

• Deceptive Tactics: The Freedom Foundation may contact members via mail, phone, email, or in-person home visits, often using misleading information to encourage opting out.

• “Scam Tracker” Initiative: DC 37 is urging members to report any contact from the Freedom Foundation, the “Liberty Justice Center,” or similar groups to track their activity.

• Purpose of the Campaign: The union states these efforts are funded by corporate-backed groups aiming to weaken unions and strip away workers’ bargaining power.

• Protection of Information: The union warns that these groups may use FOIL (Freedom of Information Law) requests to obtain personal member information
