Happy Birthday to the wonderful Carol Prud’homme Davis! 🎉🎂

Today we celebrate an extraordinary artist, dancer, choreographer, writer, and valued member of the Alison Cook Beatty Dance Board of Directors.

This beautiful Dance/Draw image was inspired by Alison’s Joyful Offering, part of Carol’s ongoing exploration of translating movement into visual art. Through her unique artistic practice, Carol captures the energy, emotion, rhythm, and spirit of dance on paper, creating what she describes as “a sentence or thought communicated onto paper with no words.”

We are continually inspired by Carol’s creativity, generosity, and dedication to the arts. Thank you for sharing your gifts with our community and for helping support the work of Alison Cook Beatty Dance.

Wishing you a birthday filled with joy, beauty, creativity, and many more dances—both on paper and in life! ❤️

🏳️‍🌈 Happy Pride Month from Alison Cook Beatty Dance 🏳️‍🌈

“Love recognizes no barriers. It jumps hurdles, leaps fences, penetrates walls to arrive at its destination full of hope.” — Maya Angelou

At Alison Cook Beatty Dance, we celebrate the beauty of love, authenticity, and the courage to be fully ourselves.

This image features company dancers Facundo Ferreyra and Marcos Antonio in Manifestations, a work that explores human connection, belonging, desire, and the choices we make when faced with fear, conformity, and acceptance. Through movement, the piece asks us to consider what draws us together—and what becomes possible when we choose compassion, understanding, and love.

This Pride Month, we honor the LGBTQ+ community and celebrate a world where everyone can live, love, and express themselves freely.

❤️🧡💛💚💙💜 Love Wins.

Twenty-five years later, LIFELINE still lives on. ❤️

Originally choreographed by Alison Cook-Beatty in 2001 while a student at The Boston Conservatory, this duet—first created on Alison and her friend Kurt Douglas—continues to connect generations of dancers and audiences through its exploration of human connection, trust, vulnerability, and resilience.

Now in its 14th season, Alison Cook Beatty Dance was honored to present LIFELINE this past weekend at Theater for the New City as part of the Lower East Side Festival of the Arts, performed beautifully by Madelaine Burnett and Facundo Ferreyra.

As Alison’s birthday fundraiser continues through May 26, we also want to extend heartfelt thanks to everyone who has donated, to our monthly donors, and to our dedicated board members for believing in the mission of Alison Cook Beatty Dance and helping us continue creating and sharing this work with communities in New York City and beyond.

Your support helps sustain our dancers, performances, residencies, outreach programs, and new creations. We truly could not do this without you. ❤️

25 years later and “Lifeline” still asks the same question… who or what is your lifeline? ❤️

Created by Alison in 2001 while she was a student at The Boston Conservatory, this duet has continued to evolve through generations of dancers, audiences, friendships, love, loss, and connection. Friday night at Theater for the New City, Maddie Burnett and Facundo Ferreyra shared this work with such honesty and heart as part of the Lower East Side Festival of the Arts.

In a world that can feel overwhelming, dance reminds us of the people who hold us up, carry us forward, and keep us connected.

The Lower East Side Festival of the Arts continues all weekend and is completely FREE to the public, featuring incredible dance, theater, music, poetry, film, and visual art from artists across New York City. Don’t miss this beautiful community celebration.

Who or what is your lifeline?
