Mount Sinai Phillips School of Nursing is proud to be a leader in nursing education.

Founded in 1904, Phillips School of Nursing (PSON) at Mount Sinai Beth Israel is dedicated to the professional education of undergraduate nursing. As part of the Mount Sinai Health System (MSHS), our nursing students conduct their clinical rotations in centers of excellence located throughout the hospital system, and have the opportunity to work with many underserved populations. MSHS has been ranked in the top-20 for Geriatrics, Cardiology/Heart Surgery, and Neurology/Neurosurgery, among others. Students also experience a variety of community settings, which include nonprofit organizations and neighborhood clinics. Two of our programs to choose from:

• An Accelerated Bachelors of Science in Nursing (ABSN)—for students with a prior baccalaureate degree in another field—that leads to eligibility for Registered Nurse licensure in 15 months.

• An RN to BSN completion program, for nurses who wish to further their education at the baccalaureate level in a hybrid program format.

Our students and faculty had a wonderful opportunity to attend the NYC AACN Chapter's Critical Care Challenges Conference, connecting with the broader nursing community while learning from experts and exploring current topics in critical care. We’re proud to see our future nurses and faculty learning, collaborating, and representing our school beyond the classroom.

PSON students recently had the opportunity to connect, learn, and represent our school at two community events, including the African American Day Parade and a student forum hosted by the New York Black Nurses Association (NYBNA).

At the NYBNA forum, students joined nursing professionals for a conversation on resilience in the workplace, with MSPSON adjunct faculty member and NYBNA Vice President Dr. Springer-Fahie among those helping bring students into the discussion.

We’re proud to see our students engaging beyond the classroom, building connections, and becoming part of the larger nursing community.

On August 26, we proudly celebrated Cohort 17, the Mount Sinai Phillips School of Nursing Class of 2026 as our Summer graduates reached an incredible milestone.

The ceremony featured a keynote address from Dr. Carl A. Kirton, PhD, DNP, MBA, RN, ANP, FADNL, FAAN, Editor-in-Chief of the American Journal of Nursing, the conferring of degrees, and the tradition of the International Pledge for Nurses.

To our graduates, may the dedication and resilience that brought you here continue to guide you throughout your nursing careers. Wherever your journey takes you, you will always have a home at MSPSON.

Earlier this week, we celebrated another meaningful milestone for Cohort 17 at the Mount Sinai Phillips School of Nursing Pinning Ceremony.

Each student was joined by someone they personally selected to pin them, recognizing the mentors, loved ones, and supporters who have been part of their journey and will continue to encourage them as they move forward in the nursing profession.

Surrounded by their classmates and faculty, our students celebrated how far they have come and the exciting path that lies ahead.

Congratulations to the newest members of the Alpha Beta Mu Chapter of Sigma Theta Tau International Honor Society of Nursing! 💜

On August 3rd, we proudly welcomed 37 new inductees from Cohorts 17 and 18 during a special ceremony celebrating excellence, leadership, scholarship, and service. Dean Kimberly S. Glassman delivered inspiring remarks on the importance of engagement and leadership as our newest members officially joined Sigma alongside faculty and the Alpha Beta Mu Board.

We are proud to celebrate this remarkable achievement and welcome you into a global community of nurse leaders.

Strategies for Success,” featuring Mount Sinai Phillips School of Nursing graduates as they share practical insights for succeeding as an ABSN student and transitioning into professional nursing.

Earlier this month, Dean Kimberly S. Glassman, Associate Dean Bernice Pass-Stern, and students Alissa Lobban, Tony Zhang, Ayisha Ali, and Cynthia Wen attended The NewComm Project's annual Net Gala in Washington Heights.

For more than three years, MSPSON has partnered with The NewComm Project, a Horace Mann School-based organization that empowers high school students from the Bronx and Upper Manhattan to develop leadership skills and create positive change in their communities. During the 2025–2026 academic year, NewComm scholars collaborated with MSPSON faculty and guest speakers to develop resources addressing teenage mental health concerns, culminating in a formal presentation this spring.

We are proud to support this partnership and the next generation of community leaders.

As we close out Nurses Week, the Mount Sinai Phillips School of Nursing proudly celebrates nurses everywhere and honors the legacy of Florence Nightingale on her birthday. Her impact continues to shape the profession and inspire generations of nurses to lead with compassion, knowledge, and purpose.

We were also happy to continue the celebration on campus today with our nursing students, recognizing the dedication and community that define MSPSON.
