Mount Sinai Phillips School of Nursing

Mount Sinai Phillips School of Nursing Mount Sinai Phillips School of Nursing is proud to be a leader in nursing education.

Founded in 1904, Phillips School of Nursing (PSON) at Mount Sinai Beth Israel is dedicated to the professional education of undergraduate nursing. As part of the Mount Sinai Health System (MSHS), our nursing students conduct their clinical rotations in centers of excellence located throughout the hospital system, and have the opportunity to work with many underserved populations. MSHS has been ra

nked in the top-20 for Geriatrics, Cardiology/Heart Surgery, and Neurology/Neurosurgery, among others. Students also experience a variety of community settings, which include nonprofit organizations and neighborhood clinics. Two of our programs to choose from:

• An Accelerated Bachelors of Science in Nursing (ABSN)—for students with a prior baccalaureate degree in another field—that leads to eligibility for Registered Nurse licensure in 15 months.

• An RN to BSN completion program, for nurses who wish to further their education at the baccalaureate level in a hybrid program format.

Earlier this month, Dean Kimberly S. Glassman, Associate Dean Bernice Pass-Stern, and students Alissa Lobban, Tony Zhang, Ayisha Ali, and Cynthia Wen attended The NewComm Project's annual Net Gala in Washington Heights.

For more than three years, MSPSON has partnered with The NewComm Project, a Horace Mann School-based organization that empowers high school students from the Bronx and Upper Manhattan to develop leadership skills and create positive change in their communities. During the 2025–2026 academic year, NewComm scholars collaborated with MSPSON faculty and guest speakers to develop resources addressing teenage mental health concerns, culminating in a formal presentation this spring.

We are proud to support this partnership and the next generation of community leaders.

As we close out Nurses Week, the Mount Sinai Phillips School of Nursing proudly celebrates nurses everywhere and honors the legacy of Florence Nightingale on her birthday. Her impact continues to shape the profession and inspire generations of nurses to lead with compassion, knowledge, and purpose.

We were also happy to continue the celebration on campus today with our nursing students, recognizing the dedication and community that define MSPSON.

“I attribute my success to this: I never gave or took any excuse.”

Through long days, challenging moments, and unwavering determination, Cohort 16, your moment has arrived.

Earlier today, we celebrated your graduation with a ceremony that honored your journey, from student leadership remarks and a valedictorian address to the conferring of degrees and the tradition of the International Pledge for Nurses.

Today marks a meaningful step forward.

At our Pinning Ceremony, Cohort 16 was recognized for their hard work, perseverance, and commitment to the nursing profession, as each student’s name was called by their professors, marking a powerful moment of recognition and achievement. Being pinned by someone they personally selected made the moment even more special, honoring the mentors, family members, and supporters who have shaped their journey and will continue to guide them in the years ahead.

We are so proud of all you’ve accomplished and can’t wait to see the impact you’ll make.
