April is National Minority Health Month, a time to raise awareness about the importance of improving the health of racial and ethnic minority communities and reducing health disparities. A recent study led by the Foundation, investigators from the University of Pennsylvania and the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, revealed stark racial disparities in IBD care across the United States. "Everyone affected by these chronic, relapsing conditions deserves the opportunity to lead active, healthy lives,” said Andres Hurtado-Lorenzo, PhD, Senior Vice President of Translational Research & IBD Ventures and one of the study authors. “Our findings highlight the critical work needed to achieve health equity for all patients with inflammatory bowel disease.” https://bit.ly/42yXsOO

We're excited to announce that Yan Zhao, MD, PhD, CEO (center) of Drive Medical, has been named the winner of the first-ever IBD Innovate Shark Tank! Dr. Zhao has been awarded $25,000 by the Foundation's IBD Ventures to further develop an innovative solution. Distinct from traditional scopes, Drive Medical's Pollywog robotic enteroscope for Crohn’s disease eliminates the need for general anesthesia, enabling its use in outpatient settings.
