Founded by Andressa Furletti, Debora Balardini and Thiago Felix, the company started in 2011 with a public reading of the play Cerimônia do Adeus by Mauro Rasi. In 2012 Group .BR produced A Serpente (The Serpent) by Brazil’s most known and controversial dramaturges, Nelson Rodrigues with sold-out performances and a nomination to the 2012 B

razilian International Press Awards. In 2013, Infinite While It Lasts, Group .BR’s first devised work based on the life and work of Brazilian poet and composer Vinicius de Moraes landed on the bohemian bar Nublu in East Village. A second run of the show happened in 2014 held at Studio 151 for four weeks. The show was nominated to the 2014 Innovative Theatre Awards for Outstanding Choreography/Movement and to the 2014 Brazilian International Press Award. Inside The Wild Heart, an immersive theatrical experience based on the life and works of the Brazilian Jewish writer Clarice Lispector had a successful five-week run at the Immersive Gallery, in Williamsburg in 2016, and another five-week run in 2018 at the Aich Studio, a three-story house in Manhattan. The show had great reviews and received four nominations and earned Andressa Furletti an award for Best Actress at the 2017 Brazilian International Press Award. Other than its awarded productions, the company offers a variety of acting and dance workshops, readings, and signature events such as the theatrical Brazilian dance party Saravá!, the intimate Pão de Queijo Brunch and the Clarice's Hour (Hora de Clarice) in partnership with Moreira Salles Institute (Instituto Moreira Salles), and the Happy Hour Online with readings and conversations about Clarice Lispector in honor of her centennial.

Art, education, and the Amazon — all in one room. 🌿💚

OPA! Festa Junina 2026 was not just music and dancing. Thanks to the vision and production of Angelica Walker Projects (Angelica Walker), the talent of Duda Mendes (Photos by Duda Mendes), and the support of SOS Amazônia (SOS Amazônia), we were able to bring Brazilian environmental awareness and art education to Bushwick.

The exhibition “Acre in Celebration: Nature, Stories and New Futures” and the workshop “Protecting Acre’s Wildlife” for kids and teens reminded us that celebrating Brazilian culture also means protecting it — from the stage to the rainforest.

This Sunday, three organizations — one shared love for Brazil, its people, and its land. 🌿💚
, , and are coming together at OPA! Festa Junina to celebrate Brazilian culture, art, and the Amazon — and we’d love for you to join us.
OPA! Festa Junina is a full-day celebration of one of Brazil’s most beloved traditions, organized by Brazilian theater company . Tickets are available at www.group.br.com/opa (the link is in their bio).

🖼️ As part of the event, we are proud to present the exhibition “Acre in Celebration: Nature, Stories and New Futures” — a visual journey into the environment, biodiversity, and communities of Acre, Brazil.

From 3 to 6 PM, children and teens are invited to the workshop “Protecting Acre’s Wildlife”, led by Duda Mendes (), MoMA Teens-in-Residence and NYCLU Teen Activist. Through art, creativity, and conversation, participants will explore the rich biodiversity of Acre and discover why protecting the Amazon and its wildlife matters — for Brazil and for all of us.

You’ve heard of Carnaval — but did you know that every June, Brazil transforms into a month-long celebration? Communities come together for Festa Junina (June Party), a harvest festival woven from Indigenous, African, and Portuguese roots, alive in every corner of Brazil every June. Centuries of joy, community, and folklore — now coming to House of Yes in Brooklyn.

Live music hit different at Opa! Carnaval 2026. 🥁🎺💛
Three incredible bands brought the sound of Brazil to Brooklyn — and each one in their own completely distinct, completely electric way.
Thank you to Turma do Samba Turma Do Samba NYC 🇺🇸🇧🇷 and Meiri Lannes for the samba that moved every single body in that room. Thank you to Maracatu Baque NY Maracatu Baque NY for the drums that you felt in your chest. Thank you to Mambembé Mambembé New York with Marcos Costa Marcos Costa for the forró heat and “molho” from Bahia!

We are so lucky to share stages with artists like these.
