Last week, we had a visit from Michelle Brown from the Cabrini Health Foundation! Here she is with David, our Executive Director, as they check in on the progress of our renovations.

The Mother Cabrini Health Foundation has been an integral part of our expansion campaign as they have provided us with two $100,000 grants to literally lift us up (elevator) and press forward with our need for additional accessible space (downstairs bedrooms and bathrooms). We could never thank them enough. ❤️

Our grantee St. Francis College Brooklyn’s nursing program received a $1.5M grant from Congresswoman Nydia Velazquez’s office to fund lab upgrades and career training services for nursing students. Foundation staff Sapna Shah and Catherine Calvo attended the ceremony last Tuesday to celebrate our grantee and tour their nursing simulation room. Congratulations St. Francis College Brooklyn Nursing and thank you Rep. Velazquez for recognizing their important contributions to New York City’s nursing workforce!

The state-of-the-art lab at St. Francis College will now be making upgrades to help give students a more hands-on experience of working with patients in the real world.

About Us

One hundred thirty years ago, a humble Italian nun arrived in New York. Upon her arrival she was told that her accommodations were not ready and her plans to establish an orphanage were in danger of being scrapped. Despite major obstacles, Mother Cabrini forged ahead to serve all those in need over the course of her life. At the time of her death, she had founded 67 institutions — schools, hospitals, and orphanages — around the world.

Mother Cabrini dedicated her life to people and communities who faced the greatest struggles. At the Mother Cabrini Health Foundation we are committed to continuing her legacy in the state where her charitable efforts began.

Our mission is to improve the health and well-being of New York’s poor, disadvantaged, and underserved populations by confronting the social determinants of health across the state.

We will be granting up to $150 million annually to sponsor innovative activities, programs, and initiatives that seek bolster health outcomes, eliminate barriers to care, and bridge gaps in health services in New York's diverse communities
