That's a wrap on the in-person portion of the 2026 Young Leaders Fellowship!
We just witnessed incredible pitches from our talented mentees during the Elevator Pitch Competition!

Over the past days in Burlington, Vermont, and New York City, we have engaged in meaningful conversations and built lasting connections. Our mentees are returning home inspired and equipped to take the next steps in creating positive change in their communities.

A special thank you to our co-lead mentors, Huma Nasir (India) and Zarrak Sattar (Pakistan), for their leadership and commitment throughout the Fellowship. We are equally grateful to our dedicated team of 13 mentors, whose guidance, encouragement, and expertise helped shape this year’s experience.

This evening, we look forward to welcoming our mentees, Board Members, supporters, partners, and friends to our Open Doors event!

As we are near the end of the in-person portion of the 2026 Fellowship and make our way back to New York City, we made a special visit to Ethan Allen Interiors Inc.'s HQ to learn more about the leadership story behind the company.

In Danbury, Connecticut, our mentees engaged in a discussion with Farooq Kathwari, Chairman, President, and CEO of Ethan Allen, and Stanley M. Bergman, Chairman, Middleville Global Group & Chairman Emeritus, Henry Schein Inc.

In a session “Doing Good by Doing Well", moderated by Dr. Charles Robbins, MCW Global Board Member, participants explored the intersection of business leadership, social impact, and purpose-driven decision-making.

The group then continued its journey to New York City, where tomorrow we will further refine the vision plans and attend the Open Doors Event- a celebration of this cohort, the connections created, and the coming impact!

We picked up our Vision Planning work right where we left off yesterday, building on the momentum from the previous sessions.

The day began with a session led by MCW Communications Coordinator Gresë Sermaxhaj, who introduced strategy and the SWOT analysis. Mentees then continued developing their vision plans through sessions led by our mentors: Abigail Jimenez Moreno (Mexico) on operations; Kristina Pavloski (North Macedonia) on objectives; Mustain Karim Chowdhury (Bangladesh) on timelines; and Ibrahim Muhammad Bello (Nigeria) on learning practices and elevator pitches.

Through interactive exercises and group discussions, mentees refined their vision, identified the change they hope to create, and explored the practical steps needed to transform their ideas into community action, while aligning their projects with MCW Global's mission and values.

The day also featured an engaging Alumni Coffee Chat: Conversations on Leadership & Vision Plans with Përparim Kryeziu, a 2011 MCW Mentee and 2012 & 2015 Mentor from Kosovo. During one-on-one conversations, mentees gained valuable insights into the lasting impact of the MCW Fellowship and its role in shaping young leaders long after the program.

By the end of the day, mentees had strengthened their vision plans and moved one step closer to creating sustainable impact in their communities.

A huge thank you to our co-lead mentors, mentors, and mentees for their dedication, engagement, and invaluable contributions throughout these past few days of the Fellowship in Burlington.

Today at the Fellowship was all about sharpening leadership vision and learning to lead with purpose and inclusion, aiming to inspire mentees to see their potential impact.

The day began with an introduction to the second phase of the Fellowship by Dhurata Berisha, Program Manager of the Young Leaders Fellowship, who walked participants through key elements of the vision planning process and set the stage for interactive exercises led by our Co-Lead Mentors, Huma Nasir (India) and Zarrak Sattar (Pakistan/UAE).

Later, mentors Mustain Karim Chowdhury (Bangladesh) and Thandi Bonno (Botswana) facilitated separate sessions on stakeholders and target groups, engaging mentees in discussions and collaborative activities as they began shaping their community projects.

MCW Global team members led the final two sessions of the day. Berisha guided mentees through the journey map and persona, and, to conclude the day, MCW Media Coordinator Maria Lovaton introduced mentees to the fundamentals of market research, equipping them with practical tools to design more informed and impactful projects.

The evening concluded with personal daily reflections, giving the mentees a moment to feel appreciated for their efforts and motivated to continue their learning journey.

Burlington was filled with vibrant colors this Sunday as we celebrated cultures from 31 participating countries at this year’s Fellowship, highlighting the strength of our diverse community and making everyone feel proud of our collective identities.

Followed by a visit to Burlington City, mentees and mentors engaged in meaningful cultural exchange through conversations and shared traditions, fostering a spirit of global community and deepening their appreciation for one another’s backgrounds, traditions, and stories.

Marking the fifth day of the Fellowship, we welcomed back Richard Magid and Jackie Freedman, who today led a session on emotional intelligence and its growing importance in leadership.

Later, David Hudson, Experienced Executive & Leadership Consultant and Professor in the Communications & Media Arts department at Southern New Hampshire University, led a Public Speaking session focused on the fundamentals of effective communication, building confidence, and practical strategies to help mentees communicate with clarity, confidence, and purpose throughout their leadership journeys.

Drawing on the experiences of MCW Global alumni worldwide, mentees then explored the meaning of global citizenship in a session led by this year’s co-lead mentors and mentors Davi Augusto Soares (Brazil), Huma Nasir (India), Mauren Martinez Murcia (Colombia), Rita Selimi (Kosova), Youssef Ben Ameur (Tunisia), and Zarrak Sattar (Pakistan/UAE).

The conversations didn't end when the sessions did. 🌿

Today's Fellowship sessions focused on self-awareness, exploring the values and mindsets that shape young leaders.

The day featured interactive sessions led by Richard Magid, President of the Soundboard Consulting Group, LLC, and Jackie Freedman, Leadership Consultant, Author & Speaker, and Owner of Delta-V Strategies, inspiring participants and helping them discover and align core values, reflecting on the principles that guide their decisions and actions as young leaders.

In the afternoon, mentees delved into the concept of a growth mindset, emphasizing the importance of embracing challenges, learning from setbacks, and remaining open to continuous growth and development.

Through reflection, dialogue, and shared experiences, participants gained valuable insights into themselves while strengthening their vision for the positive impact they aspire to make in their communities.
