Earlier this month, Coach Butch Hines, Founder of the MCW Zambia Tennis Program, and Kabinga Pande, MCW Board Vice President, traveled to the MC-Zambia Community Center in Chanyanya to support the Zambian Tennis Project.

With the generous support of the Professional Tennis Registry Foundation and friends of Coach Butch Hines, the team hit the ground running to deliver essential training gear, equipment, and resources to the trainers and children.

✨ Highlights from the Coach Hines and Kabinga's Visit:
• 200+ Pairs of Sneakers Distributed: Thanks to an incredible collection effort by Nina and her classmates, over 200 kids received brand-new sneakers and socks!
• The Upgraded Court is Live: With construction upgrades officially complete, Zambia-based Coach Duncan led the youth through a rigorous, full-scale tennis training program designed to build skills both on the court and in the classroom.
• A Holistic Approach: Beyond tennis, the comprehensive program in Chanyanya continues to empower local youth through literacy, sewing, computer literacy, and gardening.

🚀 Looking Ahead
As our players grow, so do our goals! To keep up with the incredible talent emerging from the program, our next major milestone will be expanding the facility with a second tennis court.

We’re halfway through the implementation of the seed grants we awarded through the Sawa Project-and already feeling inspired by what’s taking shape!

Across communities in Kenya, Malawi, Rwanda, Somalia, Sudan, Tanzania, and Uganda, 10 youth-led initiatives are turning ideas into action, creating safe spaces, starting conversations, and rethinking how mental health support can look and feel locally.

We are witnessing young people showing up for their communities, testing solutions, learning, adapting, and leading with care and compassion.

Continuing the evening at our Annual Gala, we heard a special message from Frederick M. Lowery, CEO of Henry Schein, Inc., who was introduced by Stanley Bergman, Chairman of the Board of Directors, Henry Schein, Inc.

We then welcomed Dr. Thierno Thiam, Ph.D., Provost and Senior Vice President for Academic Affairs at Tuskegee University, who represented Tuskegee University in place of President and CEO Dr. Mark Brown, alongside a powerful performance by the Tuskegee University “Golden Voices” Concert Choir, bringing energy and inspiration to the evening.

This Monday, we kicked off the MCW Global’s 2026 Annual Gala with inspiring remarks from Kristie Patten, Professor and Counselor to the President at New York University, followed by our Master of Ceremonies, Ali Velshi, Host, “Velshi”, MSNOW, who set the stage for a night of impact, connections, and partnerships.

On this day, MCW Global stands with the people of Rwanda as they commemorate the 32nd anniversary of the 1994 Genocide against the Tutsi.

We remember and honor the victims, and acknowledge the courage and resilience of the survivors.

Our Affiliate, Miracle Corners Rwanda, continues its work in the Bugesera District, where many survivors still reside.

Today, we stand alongside them in remembrance and solidarity!
