Meet Adam, Executive Chef at the Central Park Boathouse!

We stopped by ahead of the lunch rush to get a taste of his featured dish for this year’s Taste of Summer event and learn how the Park and the rich history of the Central Park Boathouse inspire him.

Taste of Summer supports the Central Park Conservancy’s mission to restore, maintain, and enhance Central Park, and is presented by Northern Trust.

Happy Birthday, Bethesda! 🥳 ⛲

Today marks the 153rd anniversary of the dedication of Bethesda Terrace! From the beloved views of the terrace to the ornate arcade to the crown jewel of the Angel of the Waters statue atop Bethesda Fountain, this is one of the most iconic spots in all of New York City.

We’re excited to share that Bethesda Fountain will be undergoing a comprehensive restoration later this year, which will address aging infrastructure, improve performance, preserve the landmark’s historic and artistic integrity, and more. This work will allow this treasure of Central Park to flow and flourish for generations to come.

Have you ever wondered why Central Park has so many statues?

Originally, Central Park’s designers only envisioned public art at Bethesda Terrace, the architectural centerpiece of the Park.

But after the Park opened in 1858, and especially in the years following the Civil War, public memorials and monuments became increasingly popular, as a way for New Yorkers to commemorate the fallen, pay tribute to national or cultural icons, and find representation in the public space around them.

In honor of Memorial Day, take in a few of the military monuments located around Central Park.

📍 107th United States Infantry, dedicated 1927, east side at 67th Street

📍 The Maine Monument, dedicated 1913, west side at 59th Street

📍 307th Infantry Regiment Memorial Grove, dedicated 1925, mid-Park at 70th Street

Meet Central Park’s elite team! 💪

Last month, we joined Groundskeeper Claudio and members of the Five Borough team uptown at Jackie Robinson Park. There they were tackling mulching, cleanup, and landscape maintenance, bringing their Central Park expertise and hands-on skills to a new neighborhood.

For more than 20 years, the ’s Five Borough Program has partnered with New York City Department of Parks & Recreation to strengthen greenspaces across New York City!

“This is their territory.” 🐾

Meet wildlife photographers and Park regulars Jacqueline Emery and David Lei (plus Jackie’s dog Tillie) and discover how they’ve become well acquainted with Central Park’s mated coyote pair, affectionately known as Romeo and Juliet.

You can help Central Park’s coyotes by respecting fences and staying out of closed landscapes, keeping your dog on-leash, and giving them space if you’re lucky to come across them in the Park.

Stay tuned for part 2!

Thanks to a generous gift from Lizzie and Jon Tisch, the Delacorte Theater restrooms have been fully restored!

Built in 1912, the Delacorte Theater restrooms had not seen a comprehensive renovation since 1965. This beloved facility serves audiences at The Public Theater's Shakespeare in the Park every summer, visitors to the Great Lawn, and millions of people every year.

Today, the building has been upgraded, systems modernized, and new accessible routes now connect this space to the Delacorte Theater, the Park Drive, and key destinations throughout the Park!

Alexa, play Birds of a Feather. 🪶🎶

During spring, hundreds of bird species flock to Central Park for food, water, and shelter as they migrate along the Atlantic Flyway. Around the same time, birders and wildlife lovers flock to see these winged wonders, which sometimes include migrating species rarely seen in the area!

Whether birds are just passing through, settling down for nesting season, or live in Central Park year-round, we’re proud to support them with natural areas full of native plants and a biodiverse habitat.

Support our wildlife by keeping pets on-leash, picking up after yourself, and never feeding them.

Check out our free birding guide, complete with tips, tricks, and map of bird hot spots:
