The oldest love story in the West is a warning about looking back. Orpheus turned to make sure Eurydice was real, and lost her. We do it daily now; the mirror is a phone screen, and the beloved is a profile we swipe on looks alone.

This November, join in a historic evening marking the first complete performance of Susa’s Joyce Cycles, including the posthumous world premiere of his third cycle, along with brand new arrangements of Phoebe Bridgers, Taylor Swift, Stevie Wonder, and Olivia Dean.

The story is old. It still works.

Did we give you goosebumps??

Back in June we had an amazing time singing at the Tribeca with Radiolab singing Leonard Cohen’s “Hallelujah” for their Radiolab Live with Latif Nasser & Lulu Miller in a segment called “The Holy Shiver” 🎶 Arranged by Vince Peterson it featured Vuyo Sotashe with Chris Pattishall on piano, we had a blast and were lucky enough to have ReelTrack Media there to cover it!!

Have you wanted to write a piece for a live choir and receive direct feedback throughout the process?

In June, we invite up to 10 composers to workshop a new piece of choral music with our 12-voice professional ensemble. Throughout the week, composers submit multiple drafts and engage directly with singers in reading sessions, receiving invaluable feedback from the human beings who will actually sing their music. The week culminates with a public concert of world premieres, all composed during the Institute. This concert is a favorite event of many of our long-time supporters and is always warmly received!
