Mission Statement

For more than 25 years, The Brotherhood Sister Sol (BroSis) has been at the forefront of social justice, educating, organizing and training to challenge inequity and champion opportunity for all. With a focus on Black and Latinx youth, BroSis is where young people claim the power of their history, identity and community to build the future they want to see. Through unconditional love, around-the-clock support and wraparound programming, we make space for Black and Latinx young people to examine their roots, define their stories and awaken their agency. Join us for a 2-day hands-on clinic for youth workers, educators, and community leaders ready to design culturally-rooted, liberatory workshops that inspire critical thinking and action.

What you’ll experience:
- Learn a clear, step-by-step approach to workshop design.
- Translate big ideas into engaging, practical learning experiences.
- Strengthen how you open, hold, and close learning spaces.
- Receive real-time coaching and thoughtful peer feedback as you build and showcase your workshop.
- Collaborate in small groups to refine and sharpen your work.

Cost: Sliding Scale Pricing:
Tier 1: Full Rate - $1,000 USD - For Organizations and Individuals who can afford the full price.
Tier 2: Community Organization Rate - $500 USD - For Organizations and Individuals with a larger budget but who need financial assistance.
Tier 3: Community Access Rate - $250 USD - Choose this rate if you need a more significantly reduced rate to participate.
Tier 4: Solidarity Rate $100 - Choose this rate if cost would otherwise prevent you from participating. The workshop fee is fully waived, and the rate paid covers breakfast, beverages, lunch, and snacks.

Since 2013, our Youth-Led Green Market has been rooted in a simple belief: healthy food is a right.

Our youth and alum leaders are working to bring fresh, affordable, local produce to a community too often impacted by food apartheid and limited access to healthy food options.

Everyone deserves access to healthy food, and our youth are leading the way to make it possible. 💚

Starting this fall, we’re bringing together educators, youth workers, and community organizers for our Monthly Educator’s Meetup at the BroSis Third Space - part of our Training Institute’s Professional Development Training Series.

A new school year means new ideas, new questions, new projects, and new possibilities. From the art room to the kitchen to the garden, we’re looking forward to another year of creating space for the many ways young people shape this community.

Khary Lazarre-White, who co-founded BroSis at age 21 and built it over 32 years into one of the nation’s leading youth development and social justice institutions, announced today that he will transition from his role as Executive Director in summer 2027. This succession marks the beginning of a carefully planned new chapter for BroSis on the heels of its most successful fundraising year in history, operating with a highly experienced senior leadership team, and guided by a national Board of Directors with longstanding commitments to its mission.

🏃🏾‍♀️ Next up on our 2026 team of staff runners: Meet Hana, who is running her first ever TCS New York City Marathon with BroSis!

“Being on Team means I am joining a group of strong, committed, and passionate athletes who not only show up and rise to the occasion, but do so with excellence and grace.”

For Hana, running the Marathon is a way to prove to herself that she can do difficult things - while simultaneously supporting a cause that is deeply important to her.
