A Special Day of Culture, Care, and Connection

On March 4, a meaningful cross-cultural exchange took place in Jing’an District, Shanghai. Five children from LÖSEV – The Foundation for Children with Leukemia in Türkiye – visited Shanghai for a special cultural experience. The visit was organized and coordinated by FICFF (Fashion in a Conscious Future Foundation), in collaboration with Nanjing West Road – Suhe Bay Central Activity Zone.

Early in the morning, the cruise ship arrived at Wusongkou International Cruise Terminal in Shanghai, where the team warmly welcomed the children upon arrival. A total of 15 participants joined the visit, including five children from LÖSEV, one accompanying nurse serving as team leader, six members of the FICFF team, and three representatives from Jing’an District. To ensure comfort and safety throughout the day, a 32-seat coach bus was specially arranged as transportation for the full program. After completing disembarkation procedures, the group departed for the city center and officially began their cultural exploration of Shanghai.

The morning itinerary began with a City Walk along Suzhou Creek, an important area where Shanghai’s history meets its modern urban landscape. The group visited several cultural and architectural landmarks, including Shenyu Li, Suhewan MixC World, Tianhou Temple, and the historic Shanghai General Chamber of Commerce Building. Walking through streets where traditional architecture and modern city spaces coexist, the children experienced Shanghai’s unique historical depth and urban vitality. During the visit, they explored with curiosity, took photos, and built their own connection with the city.

From Livestream to Real Life — Women’s Voices at the United Nations:
Global leaders from digital platforms, media, and social impact sectors gathered at the United Nations Headquarters for the UNITAR – FICFF 2026 Women’s Forum during CSW70.

Moderated by Stephanie Fillion, Editor-in-Chief of Envoy Magazine, with remarks and discussions from Graysen Airth, Office Lead of UNITAR New York; Yitong Qin, Founder & Chairman of FICFF and Founder & CEO of UNIPX Group; Li Jiaqi (Austin Li), one of the world’s leading livestream commerce hosts and Murad Brand Ambassador; Victoria Leung, Founder & CEO of elvis+elvin; Brandy Rose Apostol, Founder of So Booked Up and The Right Book Club; and Rasha Mekky, Founder & Executive Director of Yalla Kafala. The forum explored how women are shaping innovation, sustainability, and inclusive growth — highlighted by Li Jiaqi’s livestream sessions generating over $2 billion in a single broadcast.

The event also welcomed distinguished guests including Laura Garcia Poretzky, founder of Laura Garcia Collection, and Wendy Abascal de La Faverie, reflecting its connection to the global luxury and fashion ecosystem, alongside international media leaders such as Razi Canikligil, President of Envoy Magazine UN, and Paolo Mastrolilli, North America Bureau Chief at La Repubblica.

As Yitong Qin shared, “Progress does not happen through one sector alone — it requires collaboration across institutions, businesses, and communities.”

Yitong Qin (Founder & Chairman of FICFF; Founder & CEO of UNIPX Group)

During the discussion, Qin offered a deeper explanation of the concept of “Fashion” within FICFF. He stressed that fashion is not limited to clothing or industry, but represents a broader vision of lifestyle and quality of life. “We do not want people to simply work to survive,” he said. “We want them to have the imagination and aspiration for a better life.” Even in resource-constrained environments, he emphasized, individuals should have the opportunity to envision a more dignified and fulfilling future, beyond basic survival.

Building on this philosophy, Qin shared practical experiences from FICFF’s work in regions such as Honduras. In some rural areas, children previously had to walk one to two hours to reach school. By building local schools and reducing travel time to just 20–30 minutes, access to education—and with it, future opportunity—improved significantly. He pointed out that when children lack access to education and guidance during critical developmental years, particularly between ages seven and eighteen, they are more vulnerable to losing direction or entering negative social pathways.

He further emphasized that education is not limited to literacy or academic learning, but must also include creativity and imagination. “We want children not only to complete their education, but to imagine their future, to have dreams, and to act on them.”

When addressing international collaboration, Qin highlighted the importance of cultural understanding. He argued that the real challenge lies in building solutions that respect local contexts. External organizations should not simply provide aid, but instead engage in continuous learning and dialogue with local communities. “True collaboration is about co-creation based on understanding, not one-directional giving.”

Brandy Rose Apostol (Founder, So Booked Up and The Right Book Club)

Brandy Rose Apostol explored the importance of reading and community in maintaining critical thinking in the digital age. While acknowledging that information is now more accessible than ever, she argued that fragmented digital content cannot replace the depth and reflection that reading provides.

Through her community of women readers, she has created a space where individuals can share perspectives, build confidence, and engage in meaningful dialogue. In response to questions about artificial intelligence, she emphasized the importance of maintaining independent thinking. “The value of reading is that it helps us form our own judgment,” she said, “rather than being defined by the information we consume.”

Rasha Mekky (Founder & Executive Director, Yalla Kafala)

Rasha Mekky shared her work in transforming child welfare systems in Egypt. She explained that while traditional orphanage models may provide basic care, they often fail to offer children a true sense of belonging and emotional support.

Her organization promotes a family-centered alternative through foster care systems and small-home models, aiming to create environments that more closely resemble real family life. She emphasized that meaningful change requires not only institutional reform, but also a shift in societal perceptions—particularly in addressing stigma toward orphaned children.

“Real change means that every child is seen, accepted, and given a sense of identity and belonging,” she said.

Victoria Leung (Founder & CEO, elvis+elvin)

Victoria Leung shared insights from her entrepreneurial journey, focusing on both the challenges and opportunities women face in building sustainable businesses. She pointed out that barriers such as high minimum production requirements, supply chain limitations, and cost structures often make it difficult for emerging brands—especially women-led ones—to access resources.

To address this, she has worked to lower entry barriers by offering flexible production models and supply chain support, enabling women to start small and scale over time. She emphasized that sustainability must be embedded in every decision—from formulation and sourcing to packaging and design. “Sustainability is not a slogan,” she said. “It is a series of conscious choices and trade-offs in every step.”
