Workshop provides the opportunity for our dancers to bridge the gap between class and performance.

In rehearsals for "Who Cares?", students are challenged not only by the stamina and technical skill of the piece, but by the choreography's call for spectacular artistry. Ease, charm, wit, and romance are all expressed through the movement, encouraging our students to approach the work not just as dancers, but as artists!

George Balanchine's "Who Cares?" is an exciting piece performing at the 2026 Workshop performances on June 6 and the Workshop Benefit on June 8 at the Peter J. Sharp Theater. Tickets can be purchased at the link in bio!

“A celebration of vitality and presence—the dancers themselves becoming the evidence of something vibrant, immediate and alive.”

This June, SAB alumnus, Kiyon Ross, makes his Workshop choreographic debut with the world premiere of “Proof of Light”. In five movements, the piece incorporates speed, precision, musicality, and dynamic interplay, merging the Balanchine tradition with Ross’ own artistic voice.

Don’t miss out on this groundbreaking premiere! Tickets are on sale now at the link in bio.

Meet the 2026 recipients of SAB’s Alumni of Distinction Award - Nancy Reynolds and Victoria Simon!

Since their days in the SAB studios, our two awardees have accomplished extraordinary achievements both on and off the stage. Since her time at SAB, Nancy has dedicated her life to documenting and safeguarding the work of George Balanchine, currently serving as the Director of Research for the George Balanchine Foundation. Similarly, Victoria is devoted to the preservation and transmission of Balanchine's choreography, having staged over 25 of his ballets for more than 80 companies.

SAB alumni of all generations and their guests are invited to join us in honoring these two incredible women at the Annual Alumni Celebration on June 5th. Tickets are on sale now on the SAB website!

In April, we welcomed the 2025-2026 National Visiting Fellows back to SAB for their Spring Residency! Our five selected educators returned to NYC to teach Upper Children's and Intermediate Division students and engage in thoughtful discussions surrounding inclusive training environments for young dancers.

It has been an honor to share SAB's Children's Division curriculum with this group and exchange ideas to better the experiences for dance students across the United States. Applications for the 2026-27 National Visiting Fellows Program are now open through June 30th. Visit our website to learn more about what we look for in applicants and begin preparing your materials!

We look forward to welcoming the next group of National Visiting Fellows to SAB this fall. Apply today!

Pilates and cross-training have always been a core aspect of training for SAB dancers, but our offerings got a big upgrade last fall!

As a result of our Wellness Center’s grand opening last September, dancers have daily access to state-of-the-art cross-training. They are guided by professionals on how to best integrate Pilates, weight training, and cardio to supplement their dancing. This upgrade has already made a difference in the way our students feel equipped for classes, rehearsals, and performances. The intentional, physical work done in the Wellness Center prepares dancers to thrive during long days in the studio and for long-lasting careers.
