The J. Luce Foundation and Orphans International are delighted to share the Japan International Broadcasting film about our vice president emeritus, Dr. Kazuko Hillyer Tatsumura, that aired on NHK Worldwide yesterday.

The piece, “Bringing Smiles Across the World,” recounts her travels around the world supporting orphaned children and echoes her best-selling biography “Journey of Compassion.”

The film highlights her support of Manjushree Orphanage on the Indian-Tibetan (Chinese) border and half-century friendship with his holiness the Dalai Lama.

‘Sensei’ is undergoing rehabilitation in a Buddhist nursing home following a stroke on one of her many trips to Panama.

She was recently the recipient in absentia of the Lifetime Achievement Award at our 25th anniversary gala held at the Asia Society in New York.

I have been pleased to travel with Dr. Kazuko to meet with his holiness, as well as support children and other charities in India, Indonesia, Panama, Cuba, and Haiti.

We look forward to her continued recovery and hope to see her in New York this spring!
