On Wednesday, October 1, 2025, our co-founder Aminta Kilawan Narine spoke at The Season of Creation, a gathering hosted by Graymoor Ecumenical & Interreligious Institute (GEII) and the Interfaith Center of New York (ICNY), in collaboration with the Interchurch Center’s Committee on Ecumenical, Interfaith, and Community Concerns (CEICC) and Union Theological Seminary’s Center for Earth Ethics (CEE). Aminta spoke about the need for humanity to uplift climate justice and protect generations to come. Here is an excerpt from her offering. Aminta was joined by many faith leaders, including Sadhana board member Neha Savant.

Congratulations Rohan Narine, Aminta Kilawan Narine, and Neha Savant, for securing a grant from the Hudson River Foundation.

The Hudson River Foundation seeks to make science integral to decision-making about the Hudson River and its watershed and to support science-based stewardship of this extraordinary resource for all who live, work, and recreate there.

In the study "Intersections of Marine Debris, Spiritual Practices, and Stewardship," the research team will examine how Hindu Indo-Caribbean spiritual practices influence perceptions about the value and use of natural areas in Jamaica Bay, their interactions with other residents and groups, and the potential to reduce marine debris through more sustainable practices. They will conduct interviews, observations during cleanup activities, focus groups, and dialogue sessions with Jamaica Bay residents and individuals from environmental stewardship organizations. The findings will be used to develop insights and recommendations to improve institutional practices and public perceptions, reduce barriers to engagement, and support community leaders to further minimize the environmental impact of worship practices.

The Hudson River Fund supports scientific research on all aspects of the Hudson River ecosystem, with emphasis on studies that bear on its human uses. The Foundation recognizes that people are integral to the ecosystem and is interested in research that can provide insights on the interaction of soc...

That’s a wrap on another incredibly successful beach cleanup! Our 2025 cleanups have been so full of joy and meaning as we roll up our sleeves and do the work of protecting the planet, our Prithvi Maa, while also engaging in friendship and community dialogue. Thank you to our co-founder Rohan Narine for his leadership month after month and to our steadfast partners at Shaanti Bhavan Mandir for coming out in such large numbers despite the rain to be the change. We know every year you do this in honor of the late Guruji Shri Prakash Gossai who is certainly shining upon you as you are simple, a sample and an example! Shout out also to our partners at Gateway for being amazing always and to our co-founder Aminta Kilawan Narine for all your work behind the scenes to make sure everything goes smoothly at our cleanups.

We reaffirm our commitment to uplifting mental healthcare in our communities. Please open the LinkTree in our bio to find additional resources and learn more about how we can lead and support our Hindu American communities through mental health awareness, care, and first aid preparedness: https://linktr.ee/sadhanahindus

Mental health care is an essential human need, but too often, men and boys in our communities do not always have access to mental health care. One way forward is to encourage Hindu faith leaders to seek understanding in trauma-informed approaches of caring for our communities. We encourage temples and mandirs to find ways to connect faith leaders with existing mental health professionals and destigmatize the need to address mental health concerns, especially for men and boys in our communities. This summer, Sadhana plans to continue our work with partners to build safe and brave spaces that uplift the mental health of the Hindu American communities we serve. We are glad to support any Hindu faith leaders looking for resources or to become more involved in this important work. 🕉️

Our May cleanup was yet another major success! We had the honor of partnering with Caribbean Equality Project and Hindus for Human Rights-USA who co-sponsored the event and the support of various Cub Scout troops from our local area. Many bags were filled and bellies too with pizza and fruit salad and good company! Gratitude to our co-founders Rohan Narine and Aminta Kilawan Narine for consistently organizing these programs for a decade plus years and to our friends at Gateway National Recreation Area for your continued dedication to Project Prithvi.

Last month, the Art Museum of the Americas abruptly cancelled Dr. Andil Gosine’s exhibition Nature’s Wild. The show would have explored connections between the environment, sexuality, and sexual justice. Here is Sadhana’s statement on this unjust cancellation, featuring Sadhana co-founders and Project Prithvi coordinators Aminta Kilawan-Narine and Rohan Narine
