Project Phoenix: Soccer Stadium in Haiti

Project Phoenix: Soccer Stadium in Haiti Firstly addressing the needs of the youth of Cite Soleil, one of the poorest slums of the country, Phoenix Stadium is an ambitious plan for Haiti’s renewal.

Co-founders Morad Fareed of Delos LLC and Boby Duval of L'Athletique D'Haiti make a commitment to the Clinton Global Initiative to build a soccer stadium in Cite Soleil, one of the poorest areas in Haiti. Haiti needs a new landscape, and sustainable investments in its future. These are the values from which the Phoenix Stadium will rise. The stadium will not only provide disadvantaged children wi

th state-of-the-art facilities to play sports and study, but will be a social enterprise enabling funding for those programs to be organically generated. The stadium – a major job creator - will house competitive soccer leagues; sports games, along with other cultural events, will be open to the public for a nomimal fee. All profits will be reinvested in the local youth, creating a positive circle of economic development and cultural renewal. World-class architect Carlos Zapata, who has produced some of the most futuristic buildings of our time has signed up to design the stadium and with him comes the likes of William Faschan (Lera), Gordon Wood and Charles Anderson.
