Local governments have significant opportunities to flex their consumer financial protection muscles to protect residents and safeguard financial empowerment gains.
Today, the Cities for Financial Empowerment Fund, with generous support from the Annie E. Casey Foundation, is convening partners from across the country for our 3rd National Convening on Local Consumer Financial Protection in Washington D.C. This event, hosted by our partners at the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau (CFPB), features a keynote conversation with CFPB Director Rohit Chopra and CFE Fund CEO Jonathan Mintz – watch the 10 AM EST livestream of their conversation here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=d7c3ieTJ05A.
We also are thrilled to announce two new resources for the field – the CFE Fund’s Local Consumer Financial Protection Initiative (CFPI) website and the CFE Fund’s first podcast series, Partner Voices: Interviews from the Field. The CFPI website is a resource for local governments across the country, highlighting tools and resources that demonstrate how they can protect residents in the financial marketplace through utilizing government authority. On our new CFPI podcast channel, you can hear from leaders across the country on how they approach consumer protection work and how other local governments can replicate their impact. Check out the first podcast now: https://protectinglocalconsumers.org/partner-voices
