Families belong together. Full stop. 🦋

At a time when immigrant families are being torn apart by detention, deportation, and fear, we marched with that truth at the center of our hearts.

Proud to have walked alongside our friends at in this year’s Philly Pride Parade along the new route to the Benjamin Franklin Parkway.

Pride is about joy, but it is also about standing up for each other. LGBTQ+ liberation and immigrant justice have always been connected.

Happy Pride, y’all. 🌈

Everyone brought something to the table. 🥟

From organizers and advocates to storytellers and movement builders, our AAPI community reception at Netroots in Philly was filled with conversations about what we’re fighting for, who we’re fighting alongside, and how we keep showing up for one another.

Thank you for making room with and for connection, strategy, laughter, and good dim sum.

Before we talk about the Let Them Lead the Way Mini-Grant, we want to ground where it comes from.

In this clip, Eric, the current board chair of .community (a program of .cdc ), reflects on the life and impact of Marsha Aizumi, whose legacy continues to shape how we show up for one another.

“Let Them Lead the Way” was originally the title of a column written by Marsha Aizumi for the Pacific Citizen, where she reflected on the importance of believing in young people and making space for their leadership.

This program is named in her honor. Not just to remember her, but to continue the work she modeled: community care, supporting grassroots leadership, and making space for others to lead.

Applications are now open through May 24 for grassroots LGBTQ+ AANHPI organizers across the West Coast and Pacific regions.

Let them lead the way. Apply now at the link in our bio!

This week on the Hill, NQAPIA staff joined advocates from across the country for to ensure LGBTQ+ AANHPI voices were represented in conversations shaping federal policy.

Kat (our Executive Director) and Reggie (our Director of Advocacy & Organizing) met with the offices of Representative Judy Chu and Senator Mazie Hirono to discuss immigration and healthcare needs impacting LGBTQ+ AANHPI communities, including the removal of gender data tracking in detention facilities and the erasure of trans migrants from federal data collection efforts.

Later in the week, Reggie also met with the office of Representative Lou Correa to discuss freedom of movement and expression, particularly the impacts of shifting federal systems to rely exclusively on s*x assigned at birth and how those changes affect trans communities navigating passports and identification documents.

These conversations matter because policy decisions shape whether our communities can move safely through the world, access care, remain visible, and live with dignity.

Thank you to our staff, partner orgs, and fellow advocates who continue showing up for LGBTQ+ AANHPI communities across the country. Thank you to
for organizing us all!
