SAY community member Carmelo is 12 years old, a lifelong Knicks fan, and one of the most inspiring young people in our community. When his birthday tickets to Game 5 didn't pan out, Fanatics and Carmelo Anthony made sure he still had his moment, surprising him with tickets to the NBA Finals at Madison Square Garden.
Seeing a young person who stutters standing tall and being celebrated like this is exactly what it's all about. We see you, Carmelo. We are so proud of you. 🗽💙🧡
Let's go Knicks!! 🏀🔥

What a night. ✨ On May 28th, we gathered at the Shakespeare Theatre Company’s Klein Theatre in Washington, DC, and the room was full of courage, community, and joy!
Hosted by the incredible Brandon Victor Dixon, the evening celebrated the voices of young people who stutter and honored SAY Parents Stephen and Lindsay Bennett with the SAY: Budd Mayer Advocacy Award for their outstanding advocacy work.
Together, we raised vital funds to keep SAY’s programs free and accessible so no child ever feels silenced.
To everyone who joined us, sponsored, and donated: thank you. We are so grateful. đź’ś

For many campers, Camp SAY is the first time they meet someone else who stutters. And everything changes. Hear from SAY’s Artistic Director, Travis Robertson, on what campers truly take away: a community that sees them, hears them, and reminds them that their voice matters.

Connect with fellow parents! 🗓️ Join us on Monday, June 1st, 2026, at 8 pm ET for SAY: Parents, our free monthly group for parents and caregivers of children who stutter. This welcoming space is designed to help you connect, ask questions, and build confidence as you support your child’s journey. You’ll meet adults who stutter, fellow parents, and speech therapists, and engage in honest conversations about successes, challenges such as IEPs and bullying, and strategies to foster self-assurance. Join a community of parents and caregivers building their confidence as their child’s strongest advocate and ally.

On Sunday, four incredible SAY participants took the stage as directors, showcasing their original one-act plays! 🎭 Huge shoutout to Olivia, Kelly, Miles, and Selah for their remarkable creativity and leadership. These inspiring teens who stutter not only wrote and directed their pieces but also guided professional actors in bringing their visions to life.
We couldn’t be prouder! Thank you to everyone who supported this event and to all who attended! ❤️

“SAY’s mission is consistent and clear. It is to provide everyone with the opportunity to experience that while it’s certainly okay to find stuttering hard sometimes, it’s also really, really okay to stutter.” —Brooke Leiman Edwards, MA, CCC-SLP, BCS-SCF, Director of SAY: Speech. 🗣️✨

At SAY: Speech, we take a holistic approach, nurturing not just speaking skills, but a young person’s confidence and quality of life. Thanks to our generous donors, we offer sliding scale fees so every child has access to the support they deserve.
Join us in just 1 week for our 2nd Annual DC Benefit Gala! Come celebrate the courage and voices of young people who stutter, while helping us fund life-changing programs nationwide. đź’›

We are so proud to share that SAY participant Stephanie’s artwork will be featured at the Metropolitan Museum of Art, and we’re giving you an exclusive interview with the artist herself! 🎨✨
Stephanie has been part of the SAY family for nearly 10 years, and watching her grow into the talented, creative young artist she is today has been an absolute joy. This is a monumental achievement, and she deserves every bit of the spotlight.
Watch now, and stay tuned for updates on when Steph’s work will be on display for the world to see. Give it up for Stephanie! 👏

“Find every reason to accept someone, not except them.” 💙🎤 Listen to this incredibly powerful speech by comedian, advocate, and person who stutters ! We were thrilled to honor him with the SAY: Hero Award at last month’s NYC Gala. Drew’s dedication to our community is helping build a world that truly listens, giving young people the courage to share their voices and stories. Thank you, Drew! ✨

And that’s a wrap on this season of SAY: DC arts programming! 🎨👏✨ What a wonderfully magical year it’s been. This maker’s studio took on painting, printmaking, slime, collaging, and soooo much more. The list truly goes on! We loved seeing new and returning faces come through our doors each Saturday to build community, make life-long friendships, and express themselves freely with other young people who stutter. It’s a gift to see their creativity shine and confidence grow. Thank you to our participants, staff, volunteers, parents, and supporters for a terrific season! 💜
We’re thrilled to celebrate this culmination at SAY’s 2nd Annual DC Gala on May 28th at the Shakespeare Theatre Company: Klein Theatre. The SAY: DC kids will take the stage for an inspiring night of performances and community connection, all in support of SAY’s free and accessible programs.
