Terrifying reports describe thousands of Morocco’s dogs being poisoned, captured, shot, and brutally killed in street "clean-up" efforts ahead of the 2030 FIFA World Cup.

Now, all 3 million of Morocco’s stray dogs could be in immediate danger.

Meet Scout, an affectionate 11-year-old tabby looking for a loving new home. ❤️

Scout may be a senior, but he still loves playtime, whether he's chasing a laser pointer, batting at toys, or enjoying his favorite treats. When the fun is over, he's happiest curled up beside his people for cuddles and companionship.

Through no fault of his own, Scout is searching for a new family after his beloved owner suffered a stroke and is no longer able to care for him. Now, this sweet, loyal cat needs a second chance.

Scout does well with children and would thrive in a home where he can receive plenty of love and attention. He would do best in a home without dogs and may be able to live with another cat, given a slow, proper introduction.

This sweet senior dog was hurt again and again for trying to protect the person he loves most, Jillian. Now he is at risk of losing the only safe person he has left.

Jillian recently escaped domestic violence and entered a long-term treatment program to rebuild her life. But the program does not allow pets. Without urgent help, Buddy could end up in a shelter. And Jillian fears her abuser could try to find him there.

He knows how much Buddy means to her. He has hurt Buddy before. The thought of Buddy ending up back in his hands is terrifying.

Buddy deserves safety. He deserves peace. After everything he has survived, he deserves to spend his senior years loved and protected, not scared and alone in a shelter.

The only way to keep Buddy safe and with Jillian is through service dog training and ongoing care. Through PAWsitive Recovery, SPCA International helps vulnerable pets like Buddy stay safe, cared for, and connected to the families who love them.

But training, boarding, veterinary care, and support are expensive, and we urgently need help to make it possible.

We are honored to support our partner, Sunshine Animal Refuge Agadir, with a grant to help care for hundreds of vulnerable animals in Morocco.

Recently, the refuge took in an astounding 500 dogs and 300 cats from the pound after concerns about the heartbreaking conditions they were living in. This grant will help provide critical sterilization and vaccinations for these animals, as well as support much-needed improvements so they can safely accommodate the large influx of rescues.

At a time when the treatment and culling of street dogs in Morocco is drawing global attention ahead of the 2030 FIFA World Cup, local organizations like SARA Morocco are working tirelessly to protect, treat, and care for animals who have nowhere else to go.

We are proud to stand alongside partners who are creating compassionate solutions and giving these animals the second chance they deserve.

Buddy has already survived so much. For years, he stood beside Jillian as she endured domestic abuse. He comforted her through fear and panic, protected her when he could, and never left her side.

Now Jillian finally has the chance to rebuild her life through a long-term program in Colorado. But there is a devastating problem: The program does not allow pets. The only way Buddy can stay with Jillian is to become a certified service dog.

Without that training, Jillian and Buddy would be separated, and Buddy could end up in a shelter, away from the person he loves most. After everything they have survived together, we cannot let that happen.

Our behavior specialists believe Buddy would make an excellent service dog candidate. But training takes months and is expensive. During that time, Buddy also needs safe boarding, food, veterinary care, and support.

We're honored to continue standing alongside our incredible partner, Stray Dog Support Inc. With a new Shelter Support grant, we're helping fund the construction of a dedicated shelter and sanctuary for the dogs in their care in India. This will help offset their long-term boarding fees and create a permanent, centralized space where these animals can receive consistent care, safety, and comfort.

This new facility means greater stability, greater efficiency, and, most importantly, a better future for every dog they rescue. Partnerships like this are how lasting change happens, and we're proud to be part of it. 🐾

Thousands of stray dogs in Morocco are being rounded up and killed as preparations begin for the 2030 World Cup. This cruelty cannot be ignored.
