Have you seen the beautiful new sails on our boats? We’re happy to have Polar Beverages POLAR SELTZER back as a sail sponsor! Not only do they keep the boathouse hydrated, they’ve give our boats some new outfits. With their support, much of our fleet is now taking the the Hudson with these new sails. Grateful the weather held this week for our event with Women on Wheels! Our adaptive program faced the most challenging season with NYC Parks Dyckman Marina closed but there is always (quite literally in this case, see picture #4) a rainbow after the storm. Thank you to WOW and our other adaptive partners who have trusted us through the process of finding an alternative site for this unique program. It was great to see you aboard!

Earlier this month, nine Sail Academy Inwood students wrapped up an unforgettable week on Shelter Island as part of our New Horizons program!

During our fifth annual expedition, students learned to sail 420s alongside the Shelter Island Yacht Club Junior Sailing Program, explored the island, and built lasting connections with the Shelter Island community.

This summer also marked the third year of our internship partnership with the Shelter Island Yacht Club, with four returning Sail Academy students serving as paid Junior Counselors. We’re so proud of these young leaders and can’t wait to continue this partnership for years to come!

Sharing just a few highlights from the first two weeks of City Sail! Some interesting weather conditions have called for creativity but our wonderful instructors and Junior Educators (rising juniors interning as assistant instructors this summer) are up to the challenge. Also up for the challenge are Violet and Luis - HRCS’s newest alumni instructors! We are so proud to welcome them to the team in these new roles. Both have served in various other parts of the organization and we are so proud of them for passing the rigorous instructor certifications just in time for the season. Big congrats to Violet and Luis 🎉🎉🎉🎉
