We couldn’t think of a better way to close out Women’s History Month than by highlighting our incredible team on the ground — ambitious, resilient women leading change where it matters most.

Our Regional Director, Ramisa Maliyath, leads with strength and vision, ensuring the seamless operation of our programs and partnerships across Bangladesh, and making sure every girl in our schools has the support she needs to thrive.

And of course, our two incredible fellows, Honey and Shaonti — mentors, instructors, and big sisters to our girls. Through their leadership, they’re not just teaching a curriculum, they’re reshaping what our girls believe is possible for their futures.

Because of them, our girls are growing up knowing that early marriage is not their only path — they have choices, agency, and dreams that matter.

Meet Sejuti 🧡our Director of International Programs and Development at Mai Soli Foundation.

Every day, Sejuti works closely with our Girls Empowerment Program in Bangladesh, helping create real opportunities for girls to stay in school, gain confidence, and build futures beyond child marriage.

Because of this work, over 600 girls have been empowered to fight against child marriage and pursue education.

International Women’s Day is a reminder that the fight for gender equality is far from over. Around the world, millions of girls are still at risk of losing their childhood, their education, and their freedom to early marriage.

But when we invest in girls — when we educate them, support them, and stand with them — we don’t just change one life.
We change generations.

Today we’re celebrating the woman whose courage and love helped change the course of one girl’s life — and in doing so, helped spark a movement.

Syeda’s story is the reason Mai Soli Foundation exists. Because she chose protection over pressure, hope over fear, and love over tradition — we are able to impact hundreds of girls every day with education, empowerment, and support.

A powerful moment captured! Our Fellows stand at the forefront, guiding and inspiring, while these amazing girls stand together, each one stronger and more confident than before.

Today wasn’t just about them receiving certificates in graduation, it was us witnessing their transformation. Over the past weeks, they’ve learned to stand up for themselves, take a stance against child marriage, understand and take care of their mental health, learn entrepreneurship skills, and become financially literate.

Here’s to the strength in unity, the power of mentorship, and the endless potential of these women! Let’s keep the momentum going!

These are the voices of young girls who have lived with the fear of child marriage — fear shaped by traditional pasts and uncertain futures.

One girl tells of her mother, who was forced to marry at 13, and how, at 13 herself, her parents tried to do the same. She wonders, “Will my life be the same as hers?” Another dreams of becoming a designer, but the weight of her family’s financial struggles makes her question if she’ll be forced into marriage instead.

They speak of mothers who were forced into marriage out of necessity, their dreams of being nurses or pursuing education lost to poverty and tradition. One girl shares the guilt of watching a classmate get married off and never return. Helpless to change anything.

In their words, you hear more than just the pain of lost opportunities; you hear the hope for something better. A hope to be seen for who they truly are and a chance to chase their dreams, free from fear and the weight of an unjust tradition.
