The topic for our monthly meeting for May will be “Plant Clinic”—a chance to have your sick and dying plants to be diagnosed by MOS’ very own Christopher Satch !
‼️sick plants need to be presented bagged and isolated to prevent any plant diseases spreading!‼️
Satch is head of the horticultural consultancy group NYC Plant Help, and known as the NYC Plant Doctor, having been featured in the New York Times and Wall Street Journal.

Don’t miss this opportunity with the NYC Plant Doctor on May 13th!

Reminder—our April monthly meeting is tomorrow! Topic: HANDS-ON REPOTTING

Come hang out, brag about your plants, and split and repot some of your orchids. We will provide orchiata bark in fine and classic sizing for your repotting needs. *Please bring your own pots*
Spring is the ideal time to repot your orchids that are making new froths and roots! Repotting can be intimidating if you’ve never done it before, or if you’re really nervous about maybe harming a particular plant—we’ve for your back!!

Historic indeed! Congratulations to Krull-Smith for the outstanding quality of their plants and culture! Remember: an American Orchid Society flower quality award is determined by comparing a flower against all similar flowers, as well as the potential for those types of flower. For an old hybrid like Catt Measuresiana, the judges felt this type of Catt can never be improved upon, for size, color or texture. Looking at it, it's easy to agree.

Do you wonder how orchid hybridizers come up with some of their ideas? And why? And how they go about realizing their ideas? Here's Nicholas Rust explaining it! (And he was the speaker at our MOS meeting in June 2025, he was terrific!)
