Key Vive Arts Foundation "Embracing Humanity through Music" www.KeyViveArts.org About Key Vive: Background

The Foundation started from a revelation.

Just a
few weeks after his critically acclaimed debut at
Carnegie Hall in New York, its artistic director,
pianist Victor Goldberg, embarked on a “Music as
Universal Language” tour across Asia, including a
groundbreaking visit to Myanmar (formerly Burma),
a country ruled by military junta. During a performance in Mandalay at a Buddhist
orphanage that shelters 6,000 children, Mr. Goldberg
was touch

ed by the visceral, whole-hearted response
he received from the mentors and children, most
of whom had never had an opportunity to hear or
experience a live performance of classical music. Such a pure, powerful response from the audience
prompted him to create an arts foundation that
promotes the concept of musical performance as a
transcendental experience and as a tool for emotional
communication among people. About Our Name

When a French sentinel cried “Qui vive?” he meant
"Who goes there?" This led to the English expression
"to be on the qui vive," or to be on the alert, to
be fully aware of a particular situation. Our name
makes a musical pun on this expression as it brings
out the Foundation’s purpose to increase awareness
of humanitarian causes through the living power of
classical music.
