25 years later, we remember September 11, 2001
We continue to share the stories of Louis Calderon, Melissa Hylla (Haggerty), and Scott Hylla, who displayed extraordinary courage and selflessness by heeding the call into Manhattan that morning, not knowing what to expect.
We remember, in the weeks that followed, providing crucial assistance to the New York City 911 system with our secondary ambulance while continuing to respond to emergencies in the Little Neck-Douglaston area.
The members who responded and provided assistance during and after 9/11 are now battling 9/11-related illnesses ranging from, anxiety, depression and lung disease, to post traumatic stress disorder and night terrors, yet they continue to make a significant impact on patients on the front lines.
We are deeply privileged that they can continue to share their experiences with our current membership, allowing us to connect with such a pivotal moment in our agency’s history.
We offer our deepest condolences to the families who continue to grieve. We honor the legacy of those who have passed, the stories of those who survived, and the many heroes that saved lives. We continue to support the heroes and survivors who continue to battle the illnesses resulting from this tragic event.
May we never forget
