Seva begins with humility.

The cherished sakhi of Mata Ganga Ji bringing a simple meal to Baba Buddha Ji, and receiving his blessing before the birth of Guru Hargobind Sahib Ji, reminds us of the love and devotion behind serving others. 🙏🏼

In that spirit, the UNITED SIKHS team served langar and held a medical camp for eight days at Baba Buddha Ji’s Jor Mela. Each meal served and each person cared for was an expression of our commitment to Sarbat da Bhala, the well-being of all.

ਨਿਮਰਤਾ ਦੇ ਮਹਾਂਸਾਗਰ, ਸੋਢੀ ਸੁਲਤਾਨ ਧੰਨ ਧੰਨ ਸੱਚੇ ਪਾਤਿਸ਼ਾਹ ਚੌਥੇ ਗੁਰੂ ਸ੍ਰੀ ਗੁਰੂ ਰਾਮਦਾਸ ਜੀ ਦਾ ਜਨਮ 1534 ਈ. ਨੂੰ ਲਾਹੌਰ ਦੀ ਚੂਨਾ ਮੰਡੀ ਵਿਖੇ ਪਿਤਾ ਹਰੀਦਾਸ ਜੀ ਅਤੇ ਮਾਤਾ ਦਇਆ ਜੀ ਦੇ ਘਰ ਹੋਇਆ। ਆਪ ਜੀ ਦਾ ਬਚਪਨ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਭਾਈ ਜੇਠਾ ਜੀ ਸੀ। ਛੋਟੀ ਉਮਰ ਵਿੱਚ ਮਾਤਾ-ਪਿਤਾ ਦੇ ਅਕਾਲ ਚਲਾਣੇ ਤੋਂ ਬਾਅਦ ਆਪ ਜੀ ਆਪਣੀ ਨਾਨੀ ਜੀ ਨਾਲ ਬਾਸਰਕੇ ਅਤੇ ਫਿਰ ਗੋਇੰਦਵਾਲ ਸਾਹਿਬ ਆ ਗਏ।ਆਪ ਜੀ ਦਾ ਵਿਆਹ ਬੀਬੀ ਭਾਨੀ ਜੀ ਨਾਲ ਹੋਇਆ।

ਤੀਜੇ ਪਾਤਸ਼ਾਹ ਸ੍ਰੀ ਗੁਰੂ ਅਮਰਦਾਸ ਜੀ ਨੇ ਨਿਮਰਤਾ, ਨਿਰਮਾਣਤਾ, ਸਬਰ-ਸੰਤੋਖ, ਸੇਵਾ, ਗੁਰੂ ਪ੍ਰਤੀ ਸਮਰਪਣ ਦੀ ਭਾਵਨਾ ਆਦਿ ਅਨੇਕਾਂ ਹੀ ਗੁਣਾਂ ਕਾਰਨ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਗੁਰਿਆਈ ਦੀ ਦਾਤ ਬਖ਼ਸ਼ੀ।ਜਿਸ ਸਦਕਾ ਸ੍ਰੀ ਗੁਰੂ ਰਾਮਦਾਸ ਜੀ ਗੁਰੂ ਨਾਨਕ ਸਾਹਿਬ ਦੀ ਇਲਾਹੀ ਜੋਤ ਦੇ ਧਾਰਨੀ ਬਣੇ।

ਸ੍ਰੀ ਗੁਰੂ ਰਾਮਦਾਸ ਜੀ ਨੇ ਆਪਣੇ ਤੋਂ ਪਹਿਲਾਂ ਤਿੰਨ ਗੁਰੂ ਸਾਹਿਬਾਨ ਵਾਂਗ ਬਾਣੀ ਦੀ ਰਚਨਾ ਕਰ ਕੇ ਲੋਕਾਈ ਨੂੰ ਸੱਚ ਦੇ ਮਾਰਗ ਨਾਲ ਰੂ-ਬ-ਰੂ ਕਰਾਇਆ। ਆਪ ਜੀ ਦੀ ਸ੍ਰੀ ਗੁਰੂ ਗ੍ਰੰਥ ਸਾਹਿਬ ’ਚ 30 ਰਾਗਾਂ ’ਚ ਬਾਣੀ ਦਰਜ ਹੈ। ਆਪ ਜੀ ਦੀ ਬਾਣੀ ’ਚ ਪ੍ਰਮੁੱਖ ਰੂਪ ’ਚ ਪਦੇ, ਅਸ਼ਟਪਦੀਆਂ, ਛੰਤ, ਸਲੋਕ, ਵਾਰਾਂ, ਪਉੜੀਆਂ, ਪਹਿਰੇ, ਵਣਜਾਰੇ, ਕਰਹਲੇ ਅਤੇ ਘੋੜੀਆਂ ਆਦਿ ਸ਼ਾਮਲ ਹਨ। ਸੂਹੀ ਰਾਗ ’ਚ ਰਚੀਆਂ ਚਾਰ ‘ਲਾਵਾਂ’ ਹਰੇਕ ਸਿੱਖ ਦੇ ‘ਅਨੰਦ ਕਾਰਜ’ ’ਚ ਪੜ੍ਹੀਆਂ ਜਾਂਦੀਆਂ ਹਨ।

ਸ੍ਰੀ ਗੁਰੂ ਰਾਮਦਾਸ ਜੀ ਨੇ ਰਾਮਦਾਸਪੁਰ ਨਗਰ ਵਸਾਇਆ ਜੋ ਅੱਗੇ ਚੱਲ ਕੇ ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤਸਰ ਦੇ ਨਾਮ ਨਾਲ ਪ੍ਰਸਿੱਧ ਹੋਇਆ। ਆਪ ਜੀ ਨੇ ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤ ਸਰੋਵਰ ਦੀ ਨੀਂਹ ਰੱਖੀ ਅਤੇ ਸਿੱਖੀ ਦੇ ਪ੍ਰਚਾਰ-ਪ੍ਰਸਾਰ ਲਈ ਮਹੱਤਵਪੂਰਨ ਕਾਰਜ ਕੀਤੇ।

ਆਪ ਜੀ ਦੇ ਤਿੰਨ ਪੁੱਤਰ ਸਨ—ਬਾਬਾ ਪ੍ਰਿਥੀ ਚੰਦ ਜੀ, ਬਾਬਾ ਮਹਾਂਦੇਵ ਜੀ ਅਤੇ ਸ੍ਰੀ ਗੁਰੂ ਅਰਜਨ ਦੇਵ ਜੀ। ਆਪ ਜੀ ਨੇ ਸਭ ਤੋਂ ਛੋਟੇ ਪੁੱਤਰ ਸ੍ਰੀ ਗੁਰੂ ਅਰਜਨ ਦੇਵ ਜੀ ਨੂੰ ਯੋਗ ਸਮਝ ਕੇ ਗੁਰਗੱਦੀ ਸੌਂਪੀ। 1581 ਈ. ਨੂੰ ਸ੍ਰੀ ਗੁਰੂ ਰਾਮਦਾਸ ਜੀ ਗੋਇੰਦਵਾਲ ਸਾਹਿਬ ਵਿਖੇ ਜੋਤੀ ਜੋਤ ਸਮਾ ਗਏ।

ਆਓ ਆਪਾਂ ਵੀ ਸਾਰੇ ਸ੍ਰੀ ਗੁਰੂ ਰਾਮਦਾਸ ਜੀ ਵੱਲੋਂ ਦਿੱਤੇ ਨਿਮਰਤਾ, ਸੇਵਾ, ਸਿਮਰਨ ਅਤੇ ਸੰਗਤ ਦੀ ਭਲਾਈ ਦੇ ਮਹਾਨ ਸੰਦੇਸ਼ ਨੂੰ ਆਪਣੇ ਜੀਵਨ ਵਿੱਚ ਆਪਣਾਈਏ।
