Our Mission

To transform underprivileged and minority communities and individuals into informed and vibrant members of society through civic, educational and personal development programs, by fostering active participation in social and economic activity. We at UNITED SIKHS believe that the development of enlightened and progressive societies can be made possible by socially conscious groups of p

eople who make a commitment to develop and direct human potential. Accordingly, UNITED SIKHS has sought to fulfil its mission not only by informing, educating and uplifting fellow beings but also by participating in cross-cultural and social dialogues to ensure that the promises and benefits of democracy are realised by all. UNITED SIKHS is also an avenue for networking between like-minded organisations to establish and nurture meaningful projects and dialogues - whether social, cultural or spiritual- to promote harmony, understanding and reciprocity in our villages, towns and cities. To achieve its objectives, UNITED SIKHS also participates in coalitions that share a common vision based on the belief that there is no greater endeavour than to serve, empower and uplift fellow beings. The core of our philosophy is an unwavering commitment to civic service and social progress on behalf of the common good.

In the conversations surrounding trucker Harjinder Singhโ€™s case, Sikh youth are sharing their realities: what it feels like to grow up visibly different, navigate bias, and continue embracing their identity with pride.

These are not just stories about discrimination. They are stories of resilience, dignity, and the importance of being seen for who you are.

For many Sikh youth, experiences with prejudice and stereotypes are not rare momentsโ€”they are part of everyday life.

If you or someone you know has experienced discrimination, racism, bullying, or bias because of your identity, you are not alone. Support is available through the UNITED SIKHS UMEED Helpline at +1 (855) 878-6333.

Truck Driver Harjinder Singh Court Update

Justice is not only about law. It is also about dignity, identity, and humanity.

During the hearing, truck driver Harjinder Singh appeared in court wearing civilian clothing and his turban, a visible affirmation that no one should have to erase who they are to receive fairness and due process.

His identity is not separate from this story. For Sikh communities and Sikh youth watching, representation matters. Religious identity should never become a barrier to dignity, equal treatment, or justice.

This moment extends beyond one case. It is a reminder of why protecting religious expression, challenging prejudice, and ensuring people can proudly live as themselves matters.

Justice should never require the erasure of identity.

Justice requires community advocacy. Fairness under the law must apply equally to everyone.

As Harjinder Singh appears for a hearing on Wednesday, May 27, 2026, UNITED SIKHS calls on supporters of due process, a fair trial, and proceedings free from discrimination or bias.

When communities remain silent, injustice can go unnoticed. When communities stand together peacefully and respectfully, it sends a powerful message that fairness, accountability, and human dignity must be upheld.

Your presence matters.
