The Pied Piper Children's Theatre Young students and teens learn, gain experience, make new friends, and perform classic musicals and plays in Northern Manhattan.

The Pied Piper Children’s Theatre of NYC (PPCT)

Founded in 1999 by Reinaldo ‘Rey-Rey’ Martinez-Cubero, PPCT is a community that involves children and adolescents ages 5 to 18, regardless of race, color, religious belief, gender, or sexual orientation. PPCT remains committed to providing a non-threatening environment where children and adolescents can explore their creativity, learn new theatrical

and musical skills, and develop a sense of leadership, empathy, community, and service. Older and more advanced adolescents are encouraged not only to help those with less theatrical background, but also to learn their material with the aim of preparing themselves to teach the younger participants, lead rehearsals, and even direct productions. The Pied Piper Children’s Theatre of NYC, Inc. has appointed Mary Albert as its new Artistic Director, starting August 1, 2026, to lead its upcoming 2026/27 Season.
Albert is a director, writer, and performer born and raised in New York City. She is a graduate of the American Musical and Dramatic Academy and holds a BFA in Musical Theatre from The New School. Albert has been directing professionally for various schools and theatre programs in and around NYC covering both licensed material as well as original work. She is also an alumna of Pied Piper Theatre and participated in Pied Piper’s programming in various ways from the ages of 7-18. 
“Pied Piper is somewhere I have always intended to return to. Over the years I've come back to see many shows. Despite the building being different from when I was a student, the feeling has always remained the same—warm, familial, home. What draws me most to Pied Piper is its commitment to community and its mission to teach not only theatre skills, but life skills as well. I am thrilled to have the opportunity to be part of how this program continues to thrive and grow.”
Pied Piper Children’s Theatre has been serving the children and families of Washington Heights and Inwood for over 25 years. The upcoming 2026/27 Season will be its 28th year in the community, and reaching this full-circle moment of having an alumna return to the organization in such an important leadership role is thrilling!
