Our PAL kids thought they were heading to a normal youth baseball clinic but then Juan Soto walked onto the field!

PAL teamed up with Under Armour and New York Empire Baseball to surprise our young athletes at City Line Park in Brooklyn. Soto ran drills with them, talked hitting, and sent every PAL kid home with a pair of his player exclusive La Fiera cleats.

As we wave goodbye to summer, we're looking back on everything our young people experienced across PAL NYC.
In June, NBA Cares, The Knicks, and Emirates unveiled a fully renovated technology and gaming room at our Webster Center in the Bronx.

In July, we had our annual Playstreets at our Harlem center, with the NYPD drumline, ice cream trucks and 300 kids dancing in the water after the opening of the fire hydrant.
That same day, we unveiled our second OPTIONS Center with the New York City Police Foundation, where young people build leadership skills and real relationships with officers in their own neighborhood.

It was a fantastic summer, filled with so many great stories.

Summer may have come to a close but we won't be forgetting about it anytime soon! One of our most fun events was our annual Playstreets in July at PAL’s Harlem Center. Hundreds of PAL kids enjoyed a day of play in a safe environment, which was the original intent behind PAL’s beginning as we opened that first fire hydrant in 1914.

Our Webster PAL youth had an unforgettable day meeting New York’s own Jose Alvarado thanks to NBA Cares, Garden of Dreams, and the NBA Store.

From a private meet-and-greet to a $250 shopping experience for every child, this was about more than basketball—it was about inspiring the next generation of New Yorkers.

And we’re just getting started. 👀

"What program would you create to keep young people safe?"

🏆What You Can Win:
The student chosen as the "Police Commissioner for a Day" will meet Commissioner Tisch during an award ceremony to be held on May 27th, 2026
$500 prize + personalized certificate
Your school receives a $250 donation
Spend a day with NYPD leadership
