Dear Sisters of Eureka Grand Chapter Districts 1-4:
Join me on June 16th for 2020 NYC Edition: Night of Virtual Sister to Sister Salon.
”At present, our country needs women’s idealism and determination, perhaps more in politics than anywhere else.”
- New York Congresswomanman Shirley Chisholm
Did you know that Black women represent a growing economic and voter base? We vote in higher numbers than our male counterparts. We influence how 85 cents to every dollar is spent in our community. We volunteer and donate our time and money to community organizations and our churches. Yet, the 23 million Black Women in the United States are underrepresented and underserved. By showing our power at the polls to support issues we care about we will help make
sure Black women’s voices, votes and leadership matter.
At this pivotal time in our nation’s history, Higher Heights is convening 2020 New York City Edition: Night of Virtual Sister to Sister Salon Conversations on Tuesday, June 16th at 7:00 p.m. ET, in the words of Ida B. Wells, “turn the light of truth upon them.”
The 2020 New York City Edition: Night of Virtual Sister to Sister Salon Conversations will convene 40 conversations simultaneously across New York City to discuss the challenges and opportunities to increase our civic engagement and mobilize our networks to the polls this June and in future elections.
I have joined Higher Heights’ efforts to engage and mobilize Black women just like us by hosting a virtual salon conversation on June 16th, and I want to make sure we are a part of this citywide effort and conversation to elevate Black women’s voices.
I hope you will join me for this timely and important conversation. Please RSVP no later than Sunday, June 14th. You can sign up using this link: https://www.mobilize.us/higherheights/event/280292/
(Note: you must live within the 5 boroughs to participate in this event this evening)
Sincerely,
Clarisa Brown, Grand Secretary
