Last Friday, our Developmental Disabilities participants, staff, families, and volunteers came together for their annual BBQ in New Rochelle, NY! The Liz Sunners BBQ - recently renamed in honor of a beloved staff member - is a highlight of the year for our participants, as it features food, games, dancing, and the opportunity to celebrate community and connection.

Everette Green has worked as a Direct Support Professional at The Foundling for 15 years, where he uses his lived experience and wisdom to help guide residents in one of our Brooklyn homes.

In this week's The New York Times 'Affording New York' feature, learn more about Everette’s role assisting adults with developmental disabilities, his life story and personal achievements, how he makes ends meet on his salary, and the need for higher pay for human service workers (follow BUMP New York for more on our campaign!)
