Young New Yorkers (YNY) uses art to bring positive systemic change to the ways young people are prosecuted. YNY’s restorative, arts-based diversion programs allow court-involved young people to swiftly exit the legal system without a lifelong record, and use art to advocate for themselves and system reform. Youth design and host powerful exhibitions that explore criminal legal issues and invite th

ose involved in their sentencing to attend. This humanizes the culture of courtrooms leading to better case outcomes for youth. Our programs have diverted 1,300+ young people away from jail and other sanctions.
